' Yknow, maybe walking around at night in the streets while playing blasting music in my ears was a horrible idea after all.'

I clenched my jaw and shivered as a gust of wind went by...

' Not to mention without a damn jacket...'

I sighed in annoyance. I just needed to get away from it all for a little, I was in a whole new world now. With no friends, and no one I know here.

' And I hate it.'

I missed them all so much, it was so hard to say bye to them. I've known them for so long. I gripped onto my shirt as my edgy moody music made this feeling in my gut feel worse. I hugged myself as the air felt freezing by each passing moment.

Just then I felt a vibration in my pocket, I whiped out my phone as my eyelids began to feel heavy.

" Fuck..." I mumbled.

New Message-

Mom: It's late, you've got school tomorrow

———

'Yeah she's not wrong...'

But then a small smile curled onto my lips.

' At least you have my back.'

Yeah, it was pitch black outside, going back to the apartment was a no brainer.

' But still...'

I didn't know why, but... I wanted to stay... just a little while longer...

My brows furrowed.

' But why? There's nothing here for me to see, this place is a dump. Whatever, I'll just go back home for now.'

———

Me: Yeah, I'm coming back, I'm at the park so I'm not too far

Mom: Alright, be careful

———

I felt a sudden chill down my spine as I took a step forward. I shivered by the out of place feeling.

' Something doesn't feel right... I feel like I'm forgetting something.'

I turned on my heel and looked behind me. At a far distance, I saw the wishing well I ran into earlier today while I was strolling around here.

I hummed, and stared at the wishing well for a moment. I reached into my pocket to take out my phone, but I felt something else in there as well. The smooth, cold flat surface of the coin caught my attention.

' Wow, convenient.'

It was odd to say the least knowing that a wishing well was at such a rich estate of an apartment complex.

" Well, I guess the corporate greed for money never sleeps, huh?" I spoke out into the utter silence that was the eerie grass field.

I tossed up the ol' quarter into the sky, and caught it midair.
