The order meeting had started around ten minutes ago. You being you didn't care much for being on time. I mean the world you knew had imploded more times than you could count so what was ten minutes in the grand scheme of things. There was a possibility that maybe you were avoiding something, or someone. But you had to be there for your godson. The godson your best friends died for. The boy that was being trashed by every wizarding media company possible at the moment for just simply defending himself.
You walked through the grimy hallway of Grimmauld place and the screaming of Walburga blacks portrait was the first thing you heard.
"You corrupted my son you mudblood scum!!"
You simply giggled having heard that every time you entered the black residence "Eat shit Walburga..." you sang gesturing your middle finger as you pushed open the door to the meeting room, or as everyone else knew it the kitchen.
Immediately every set of eyes fell on you. I mean, of course, they did, all of them assuming you'd rejected the invite sent by owl weeks ago. It's not like anyone had seen you for years, it was surprising they'd even found your new address.
As the shocked staring now totalled on ten seconds it only felt right to speak up.
"Surprise..." you muttered smirking slightly at all of their dumbfounded expressions.
"Who are you?" The bespectacled boy in the centre asked. It hurt you a little, no one had even mentioned you? That you fought alongside his mother who also happened to be practically a sister to you?
"Well, Harry... I'm y/n l/n... glad to know everyone seems happy to see me..." you mumbled sarcastically just as a pair of familiar arms wrapped around you.
Somehow he smelt the same as he did 15 years ago, that fragranced soap you supposed he'd found again once returning from the hell he'd been subjected to for twelve years. Your Sirius was hugging you again just like he did when you were seventeen, and so incandescently in love with each other, it hurt. And boy did it hurt now. It hurt to know how much time you had lost, how long you could have had if your world wasn't so fucked up.
"Long time no see love..." he croaked cupping your face in his scarred hands.
"Well you aged awfully..." you teased
"Glad I can't say the same about you darling..."
You spent what felt like forever but in reality, was only a few seconds just memorising each other's faces again. Just in case you by some twisted fate were ripped from each other for a second time.
"Are you quite done? We are here for a reason..." a familiar voice drawled from behind you.
You swung around and smirked and the man clad head to toe in black "Awww snivelly... haven't changed one bit how sweet..."
There were a few chuckles and you soon were forced to sit down as the table still scanned you. You soon noticed you had sat down by another very good friend of yours. Remus Lupin. You took his hand and squeezed it tightly. A thing you'd do often in your youth to show solidarity when things got hard without announcing it. When he squeezed back you couldn't help but smile.
It was odd being seated between the two most important people in your life. At one point it would have been normal, no comforting, but now it was just odd. Like a memory, you were reliving in some kind of deluded psychotic episode.
You were fairly zoned out throughout the meeting. Just trying to stay calm as Sirius's hand stayed firmly put on your thigh. However when his hand moved and his voice raised you were suddenly pulled from your mind pit.
"Harry... doesn't need to hear this... he's just a boy Sirius..." Molly yelled as she fiddled with the newspaper with Harry's youthful face plastered all over. The boy who lied. What a load of propaganda bullshit.
As Sirius went on to rant about how Harry should be able to find you couldn't help but shake your head and input. He was being irresponsible.
"Yes well we were made to fight as teens and look how that worked out for us..." you muttered bitterly.
A scoff caught your attention as snape eyed you carefully "you really believe your in any place to advise on such a matter..." he drawled, oh he drawled in that infuriatingly boring tone you loathed as a teen.
"Well as an ex Auror who caught wizards of your kind for many years... I do believe I have some sort of experience when speaking on this topic..." you bit back enjoying the slight shock that washed over his face.
Silence settled back over the room and soon conversation kicked back in. You didn't really feel like participating though, you just sort of stared at your godson. Marlin how much did he remind you of them. You could tell Remus sensed the familiarity, your fingers being squeezed once more.
When the meeting had finally concluded you watched as all the people you once knew gave you nods welcome backs, you guessed. Only a few remained in the room, and by a few, you meant two others.
Your once fiancé and your godson who was now staring at you like he wanted something, similar to James really.
"Y/n was it?" His soft voice called out.
You were about to answer but Sirius got there before you "yes Harry... this is y/n... the bravest woman I've ever known and-"
"That's quite enough of that big mouth..."
Harry watched you both carefully, cottoning onto the fact that you clearly had history. You met his eyes and moved to sit by him.
"Look Harry I... I know this is awful... and your life has been nothing but difficult... you deserve constants in your life... but um... I thought I'd let you know that..-"
"You're my godmother..."
Your mouth widened slightly and you nodded "I should have been there... but I swore not to see you... for your safety... but now that's all gone out the window really... so... I'm going to be here... as long as you want me to..."
There was silence and Sirius's fingers toying with your hair were the only things keeping you from bursting into tears.
"I'd love that..." Harry's voice muttered as he smiled and pulled you into a hug which you awkwardly but happily excepted.
"So are you too..." Harry gestures between you and Sirius with a shy smile.
You scoffed and hesitantly looked at Sirius who was gazing at you just like when you were a couple of kids in love. He always did hold you on a pedestal.
"We were... and then everything happened..." you stated simply "but... old feelings don't just disappear..."
You weren't sure where that admission came from but it certainly felt right. And by the look on Sirius's face, he agreed too.
I know this was short y'all but I really liked this idea :))
