JENNIE'S POV

To tell you the truth, I've had several friends after Jisoo and Chaeyoung. But the thing was, they never seemed to stick around

Now, was it my fault?

No. Of course not

But it's not like I was bent on keeping them, either. They would come to me first, talk to me first, and then we would become friends. And then I would do something nice for them and they'd leave. It was quite rude. I like them. I like them a lot. Perhaps not to the door extent that I have for my best friends, but they were entertaining, nonetheless. It was a shame that they left

But it didn't matter. I had Jisoo and Chaeyoung. Oh! And Lisa's my friend, too

"Wait, what do you mean you're 'Friends' with Lisa?"

I blinked at her

"I mean that she's more than an acquaintance" I reiterated to Chaeyoung who seemed rather disbelieving towards me. "You know? Like you two, except you guys are more of a veteran in that field"

Chaeyoung and Jisoo had somehow found me and dragged me away, leaving Lisa somewhat dumbfounded by my sudden departure. I had waved Lisa goodbye and gestured a 'Call me' signal with my hands near my ear and she rolled her eyes in return

Now I was sitting in a café with my other friends

Chaeyoung frowned and crossed her arms, "Jen, you're going to mess up again"

Mess up?

"What do you mean I'll 'Mess up'? What's there to mess up?"

She closed her eyes. Inhaled. Exhaled. And then she clasped her hands together and pointed them towards me

"Let me guess. You LIKE her and that's why you wanted to become MORE THAN AN ACQUAINTANCE" she made air quotes with her fingers

"Um...yes? I like her" a lot, "And I don't see how that has anything to do with me messing up"

"Give Jen a chance, Chae. It's been three years since her... the last friend" Jisoo said slowly and she leaned back in her chair and motioned her wrist as she took a sip from her drink, "Who knows? Maybe someone other than us can be friends with Jen. She's been doing well so far"

"Except last school year with my ex" Chaeyoung added none too pleased. She turned her head towards me and gave me a sharp look, "Jennie, I thought you said you didn't like her. I've asked you before and you agreed that you only found her...entertaining and that's all" she looked rather upset with me and I didn't want her to be

At first, a guilty look dawned upon my face, but then I replaced it with a frown, feeling equally upset with her disapproval of my new friend and why she did. "Am I not allowed to like someone? Why can't I have her as my friend?"

Chaeyoung rubbed her temples and sighed. "I've known you for years" she began, "And I know how...intense you can get when you start liking someone. First, you'd start wanting to be their friend, and then..." She trails off, a dark expression slowly creeping on her face. "Well, you tend to go overboard with the people you become fond with"

I gave her a blank look

She frowned

"Okay, remember when you almost drowned this girl in the toilet for slapping Jisoo across the face back in 6th grade, elementary school? When we were eleven?"

Jisoo visibly cringe, "God, that was terrifying"

I thought about it

And then a tiny image of a brunette's face came to mind, smudged like a stain, and Jisoo's tiny face was there, somewhere in the background. Although it was very blurry, I could somewhat recall a toilet bowl and ahead
