Highly highly recommended song to go with this (based on the same)-
If we never met by John K

=================================

If we never met
I'd be drunk, waking up in someone else's bed
I'd be lost in a crowded room of fake friends
I wouldn't even know what love is
If we never met

It happens on the most mundane day. Them sprawled on the bed with all windows shut and curtains drawn in broad daylight to abscond from the scorching July sun.

Taehyung has one leg and arm over him like a seatbelt, mouth overstuffed with chicken and salsa ever so grossly smutched from his lower lip to the cheek. The squelching from the chewing mixed with episodes of chuckles at the sitcom are as un-elegant as one can picture.

But this is the moment of Jungkook's epiphany— 'What if he never met Taehyung?'

Would he still be grabbing the first person who approaches him after his gig at the bar, and bed them?

Would he still be a vagrant, coming home to empty beer bottles rolling on the floor, instead of the aroma of sizzling meat and wine glasses set on the table?

Would his savings have ever had a section reserved in the name of another person, just to someday be outfitted enough to shower them with plenitude resources?

Would he have watched overrated sitcoms snuggled on bed in a dark room, on a day off when he'd normally be out on (controversial) rendezvous?

Would he have ever known what love is?

"Tae?"

"Hmm?" Mouth bountifully stuffed, Taehyung drags his vision away from the screen and spares the other half a glance.

"Whakh'?" He tackily pockets the chicken into right cheek.

"Did I tell you that I love you?"

Taehyung breaks into a grin, showcases sauce stained teeth and half chewed food beside them. "Not in the last thirty minutes, I believe."

Jungkook adoringly, erroneously contrasted to the untidy condition, strokes Taehyung's cheek with the pad of his finger, places a small peck on his temple. "In that case, I love you."

He gets the nose scrunch he swoons over in return along with a muffled "I love you too. Now sshh!"

What if I never started singing?
What if you never
Told your family you were leaving?
When you felt the pressure

He will remember that night like the outline of his mother's face.

That one particular gig at the bar when he, like the ever humblor' he is, had the entire audience captivated in the strings of his guitar. He wouldn't accept how elated he felt when a couple on a date are more invested in him than the purpose they're there for.

Except this one guy. Slouched back on the bar-stool, the empty glass in hand has his entire attention. And Jungkook is always the one to chase the things he apparently can't have.

So its in self-challenge that he finds himself walking to the guy who still has that glass in hand, eyes fixated like they could only waver if he manages to crack it with his glare.

"You look like you could use another drink." he musters his best seductive voice dragging the chair near the guy's.. And oh boy was he pretty. Big glossy eyes with dainty features, all shimmery under the club's tawdry neon lights.

"Do I?" The guy aggressively slams the glass on the counter and turns to him with lips twitching in a manic smile. Jungkook shifts in his seat, maybe this wasn't a good idea.

He slides off his chair, trying to make it as casual with a curt smile. The guy however doesn't seem to accept this idea. He reaches for his wrist, clamps it tight, and pulls him down harshly. He winces at the crude landing on the stool again.

"Now, now. Where are you going?" He hisses, yet the cynical smile persistent. "Enlighten me more on what it looks like I need."

"I.. I'm sorry you seem to be in a bad place. It's okay if you don't wanna-"

"No, no! I'm in a great place. I lost my job yesterday, I left my parents house and town claiming that I don't need any of them, got my wallet stolen half hour ago, spent the last 10$ on alcohol, have nowhere to stay until Jimin gets back in town which is 2 days later and I just realised that I'm wearing eyeliner only on one eye, so yeah! A drink is the magical answer to my quests, YES!"

If a few hours prior to this, someone told Jungkook that he'd be carrying a stranger's bags on his shoulders walking to his apartment whilst the said stranger half-dazedly complained about his toes being too long for the Puma's sliders, he'd call it an unlaughable joke.

Well.

There's a million different reasons
We shouldn't be together
But when I put it all together
It all comes back to you, you, you
I love it when the only light is me, you and the moon
And baby, when I close my eyes I'm thinkin' about

They marched to different drums, he found out soon.

Taehyung was the struggling architect, ardently toiling to gain his worth. Jungkook on the other hand was a procrastinating musician with visiting cards from several agencies in his wallet but none with the opportunity that lured him. Thank oo

So it is quite a surprise to the destiny-narrators when every morning Jungkook would be found leaning on his motorbike, as a hastily rushing Taehyung, still amidst buttoning the cuffs of his shirt, would climb down the stairs of Jimin's studio apartment.

They'd share breakfast dates before going their separate ways for a day full of job interviews for one and agency meets for the other; only to reunite for a bar gig ~ where it all began.

What if I never left Nashville?
What if you never
Called me back when I asked you?
'Cause you put me back together
But when I put it all together
It all comes back to you, you, you
I love it when the only light is me, you and the moon
And baby, when I close my eyes I'm thinkin' about

What if he hadn't ever come to Seoul? What if it were someone else who picked Taehyung up from the bar?

Would they love him this endlessly? Would he himself love someone this endlessly?

Would it be someone else's hand in Taehyung's as he concentrates, trying to read his palm and giggle at the lame claims he makes whilst that?

Would someone else study and cherish the curves and slants of Taehyung like he does?

Would he have let anyone else's nails trace his tattoos so intimately. Would someone else's touch be able to give him delightful tingles and gratifying burns at the same time?

"Tae?" the mentioned peers at him through his long lashes, eye enlarged to an ostrich's thanks to the magnifying glass he holds in front.

He hums, tongue tucked under the incisor peeks the tip through the parted lips, glistening soft and kissable.

"What if we never met?" he thrums at the mischievous grin that adorns the other as he wordlessly goes back to gawk at his hand through the magnifying glass.

"Look what your palm-lines have to say about this?"

"Yeah? What do they say?" He gloats, equally cinematic.

"They say that you'll never find out."

If we never met
I'd be drunk, waking up in someone else's bed
I'd be lost in a crowded room of fake friends
I wouldn't even know what love is
If we never met
