"You're safe and alive, that's the most important thing." Finally I spoke. I can't stand Valentina blaming herself anymore. It automatically ties at the sound of my voice.

"Lorenzo." Antonio got up and walked over to say hello. I shook his coat of arms quickly and gestured to give us a moment.

He patted my shoulder and left without a word. I go on for a while and I watched Valentina curled on the chair. Her head was lowered and her eyes were fixed on her shaky hands.

I hated it when she was so vulnerable, I hated why she became so constant. I know how much bad happened to her, so I try to be understanding and calm.

Something told me that she couldn't break down and fix on me. Basically everything from the fact that I wanted a few days. The problem was when she looks at me intensely, as if she was looking for something.

I didn't want to hurt on her, I lost myself in myself and couldn't let my long hidden feelings and emotions free. I hid them so deeply that every little attempt to reveal them ended in a complete failure.

The room soaked her with a magnificent scent, chasing away this unpleasant hospital smell. She knew I was standing here and watching her, nevertheless when she still made no move, I took a few steps towards her.

"You can't blame yourself for everything, Luisa will be fine. Her brain is still alive and functioning properly. She'll wake up, it's just a matter of time." I said to cheer her up a little.

I know she was worried about her little sister and I know how much she means to her. However, when she still didn't respond to my words, I crouched down and grabbed her tiny face in warm hands.

"Look at me, please." She opened her eyes and our eyes met. I saw her tears streaming down her pale cheeks. That's another damn thing I hated so much.

I wanted to kiss every tear she'd just shed. Although all I could do was gently wipe her wet cheeks with my thumbs. Then I lowered my arms and clamped them around her trembling hands, which she clasped around her thighs.

"I never want to hear you say you're a coward ever again. I don't know a woman more brave than you. You understand?" My voice was stern and my eyes were determined.

"You understand?" I repeated, wanting to make sure that my words reached her.

She nodded and sniffed. She was so innocent, I felt the need to look after her more and more, she was mine and no one or anything could change that.

"I understand." She whispered. My corner of my mouth twitched slightly at her words.

"Brava ragazza, I'm glad we understand each other. Now let's go home." I grabbed her hand and helped her get up from the chair. Her tiny body swayed, she must have been really tired by now.

I took us out of the hospital through the back exit. I still couldn't believe I had regained it, my lovely woman was here. I could smell her sweet perfume, heard her breathing softly. Every look, touch or even the presence of her made me feel alive.
