I was walking through the corridors in our barracks someone called me
I followed the direction of the voice. When I saw commander Erwin Smith. He was now promoted to be the new leader of the Survey Corps
I immediately saluted to him
"At ease soldier" he said
"Uhm, is there something you need sir?" I asked politely
"Yes, can we have a chat in my office" he said
"Of course Commander Erwin" I said slightly nervous
"Please call me by my name" he said smiling gently at me
His aura is calm and comfortable
"Of course Mr. Smith" I said smiling at him
Erwin sighed
He led me to his office
He opened the door for me like a gentleman
Inside I saw Levi he was at the couch crossed leg and his hand were draped at the back of the couch just like he owned the place
I sat at another couch in front of me. I simply faced my head downward not daring to look at Levi
I could feel the tension in the room or I'm just nervous
"Uhm Wh-why do-did you want to discuss?" I stutter cutting the silence
"We are here to discuss something. We are going to form an elite squad and you will be the first member and it would be lead by our new Captain Levi" he informed us
"Elite squad so you mean the best of the best?" I asked curiously
"Tch" I heard Levi
Don't get ahead of yourself with that big head of yours Levi thought
"No, I'm not sure I deserve that kind of position" I said making Levi and Erwin shocked not expecting my response to there offer
Because it's a huge honour to be part of an elite squad and it would boost your pride right?
"Why?" Erwin suddenly asked
"I didn't mean to rudely decline your offer it's just because I don't see myself in that position maybe other veteran soldier would do. I can't possibly see... " I said looking down
"See what?" Levi sternly asked
"I don't see myself as a strong person. I think it was just a fluke passing through my training corps. I barely even made it to the top 40 of cadets there. I've nearly dropped out so many times at our batch so I'm not sure I deserve to be part of an elite squad" I explained ashamed of myself for being a failure
"That's what you see but what I see is a soldier with potential" Commander Erwin said
"Potential in me? It seems you are blind sir?" I asked confused no one has told me that I have potential everybody is always looking down at me
But Alex and Henry accepted me for who I am
"If that's what Erwin see I will trust his judgement" Levi suddenly blurted out he stood up then went towards me
"So brat we will work together and that's it I don't care if your weak or strong but you will be my comrade and that is final" Levi said coldly
My head started throbbing but I ignored it
Tears started falling down my eyes Erwin immediately realised it
"I'm sorry his -" commander Erwin tried to comfort me when I spoke
