SO WHY DO PEOPLE MAKE THEIR OC THE 8TH DEMIGOD OF THE PROPHECY?
Even worse is when they replace someone they think is "useless", like Hazel or Frank.

Let's just say this: Percy, Annabeth, Frank, Hazel, Piper, Leo, and Jason all have an important part in the prophecy, they are all powerful in their own ways and, other than Nico and Reyna, they are the only main Heroes of Olympus.
So you can't just put your OC in randomly and be like, "Oh I was the one who killed Gaea, but the Seven won't tell anybody that". I mean seriously?
