The paramedics had arrived with Jackson just like Flip had said. The ride to the hospital had felt agonizingly long and by the time they arrived Ronnie had already lost conscious with Flip barely hanging on to his. Zoey and Kelsey had tried to stay near them but, it didn't last long, their fingers slipping from theirs as they were pulled away and ushered to the waiting area."They know we're here right?" Zoe's voice trembled. "I held his hand as long as I could and he just needs to know I'm here..."
"He knows, Zoey. He knows." Kelsey placed her hand in hers as they rested in the waiting room.
" I just- He needs to see his son. He needs to know I'm sorry for what I did," she looked down to a sleeping Ashton.
"If there is one thing I know for sure, it's that Ronnie doesn't blame you. Not one bit."
"Kelsey...Zoey?"
"Jackson!" Kelsey stood up holding Gracelynn close to her chest and hugged Jackson carefully. "Any news on Jason?"
"As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I came to tell you. We found him. Turns out Nolan had paid him a decent chunk of money and he fled to Tahiti."
Kelsey looked back to Zoey and then to Jackson again. "So, it's over? We are safe?"
Jackson smiled. "It's all over. Jason has been arrested and will be put in a maximum-security prison."
"We did it. We fucking won." Kelsey sat back in her chair as the relief washed over her and looked over to Noah who was still passed out on the little couch. "We're free."
"Yeah, you are." Jackson chuckled. "You heard anything on the boys?"
Zoey shook her head. "Some. They rushed them into surgery as soon as they were stable. We haven't heard for a few hours now."
"No news may be good news. Hold on to that."
"That's something Ronnie would tell me." Zoey let out a small laugh. "You know, people always used to tell me he was so pessimistic but he isn't around me. He always tells me how bright his future is because I'm in it."
"And he's right. You and Ashton mean everything to him." Jackson pulled one of the chairs so that he could sit in front of the girls. "When they called me and told me this idea I could tell it was the hardest decision they had ever had to make."
"I gave Ronnie so much shit for making that decision."
"I wasn't much easier on Flip," Kelsey added.
"Excuse me," The man in light blue scrubs and a black surgeon's cap asked. "Are you with the two men they brought in a few hours ago? Zimmerman and Peterson?"
"Yes, yes that's us. How are they?" Zoey asked trying to remain calm.
"Both of them are stable, no complications. We moved Mr. Peterson into recovery about thirty minutes ago and Mr. Zimmerman is there now."
"Oh thank God," Kelsey said, her hand covering her mouth as her tears spilled over.
"Granted there are still no complications post-anesthesia, they'll be moved to their rooms in about another thirty minutes to an hour."
"Is there any way we can have them in the same room?" Kelsey asked, "We just, we don't want to be separated from them any longer than we already have."
"Of course. Someone will be out soon to let you see them."

The rough sheets of the bed scratched at his skin, his body weighed down by what his mind could only fathom as an invisible force. He could hear the rhythmic beeping next to him as bits and pieces of those nightmarish events came back. He tried to speak but no sound would emerge. He felt a warm comfort envelop his hand followed by her soft voice.
