Chapter Twenty-Seven

Melody

As soon as Luke came home from school, I knew something was wrong. He came in seeming extremely pissed, not to mention he slammed the door shut behind him.

I was taking online school since we couldn't find a personal tutor on short notice. I closed the laptop and walked out of the office to meet Luke. "Are you okay?" I asked.

Luke sighed an angry sigh. "Nope. Not at all. I am possibly going to take online schooling as well."

"What happened?" I asked.

"Oh nothing," Luke said sarcastically. "Unless you call Briggs telling the whole Gym class that I am going to be a dad, which spread around the whole school and now everyone knows that my girlfriend is pregnant."

I widened my eyes. I couldn't believe Briggs! He promised not to tell anyone! "So......So the whole school knows that I'm pregnant?"

Luke sighed. "Yeah. Sorry Mel. I shouldn't have trusted Briggs."

"It's not your fault," I assured. "Briggs just can't keep a promise."

"On the bright side, Briggs is now known as a dirtbag because Crystal told everyone about him and Annie."

"But now the people I went to school with knows I'm pregnant," I said. "What if I run into any of those people at a store and they make fun of me?"

Luke grabbed my hands. "They won't. The whole schools knows, but most of them aren't making a big deal about it. A lot of them are hoping everything goes smoothly."

"Really?" I asked.

Luke nodded. "Really. I'm just pissed that Briggs didn't keep his promise."

"Same," I said. "Anyway, I've been so bored being home alone all day. Lets do something."

"Like what?"

I shrugged. "I don't know. Something. Anything."

"Like watching a movie?" Luke asked.

I shook my head. "We've done that way to much in Miami."

"How about this?" Luke asked before giving me a quick peck on my lips.

"Too boring," I said just to tease him.

Luke scoffed. "Boring? You calling me boring?"

"Yes," I said.

Before Luke could say anything, the front door opened. Luke's whole family, including John, Laura, Elijah, and Amber, walked in. As it turned out, John lived in the city the whole time and even lived less than a two minute drive away. It was odd that he and Sandy never bumped into each other.

"Hey guys," Luke said, completely forgetting that I just called him boring. "What's up?"

"We just wanted to go out as a family," Sandy replied. "And yes, Melody, that includes you." Normally, I would have rejected the idea of me leaving the house, but I didn't want to be home alome again.

"Sweet, where are we going?" Luke asked.

"Just a restaurant down the street," Sandy replied. "We'll leave at four. We just decided to come here so we wouldn't have to wait for everyone to show up."

Luke nodded. "While we're waiting for four, I think I should show Melody that I'm not boring."

I rolled my eyes, knowing exactly what he was planning on doing. "No thanks. I don't need another one. I still won't forgive you for giving me one before I had to hand in my painting at the art show."
