"YOU sure he got everything?"

The group rested on the gazebo over the water, Amelia's eyes trained on John B's presence.

"Every bar. The whole enchilada." John B replied, "Look, it's not like I expected a happy ending or some shit."

Amelia rested her back against the splintered wooden pole, her head rested upon the blonde's shoulder. They quietly passed the packed herb between each other, reveling in the comfort. It was an unfortunate loss for John B and the group, having the gold swept under their noses. While Amelia felt the loss for the boy she considered her brother, she couldn't help but feel relieved. Relieved that their chaotic summer would soon set like the golden flames in the sky.

Her neck whipped to the side, a smile gracing her face as Pope approached the group. She couldn't help but feel the warm comfort of his presence. She hoped he would finally bring some good news.

"Woah there, Pope," She chuckled, "You should consider a track team with how fast those legs run." He brushed her off, rolling his eyes as he tried to hide the small smile.

"Oh, God." He panted, "I ran all the way here."

"How was the interview, Pope?" JJ questioned, the joint resting on the edge of his lips.

Amelia couldn't help but sneak a glance at the blonde. His pink lips captured the herb, vapor ascending into the air as he exchanged conversation with Pope. She wanted to rip the rolled paper from his lips and connect them with hers. She wanted to tangle her fingers in his golden curls and never let go. An inevitable scarlet blush graced her cheeks, desire surging through her body.

She didn't realize he was staring right through her soul. Amelia didn't know how long he had been staring back, but she knew it was long enough to see the pink tint creep on her face. A million thoughts racked in her brain, mindlessly wondering.

"God, you are so beautiful."

Butterflies.

They stormed around in her stomach, fluttering to the sound of her heart.

As if she wasn't already staring at him, her eyes snapped back onto his. She perked up, letting on a facade.

"Shut up," She mumbled, plucking the joint from his hand. He snickered, shaking his head as his eyes went back on Pope.

"Guys, this is our chance, but it leaves tonight, and we have to go." Pope declared, his gaze focused on the group in front of him.

"Wait," Amelia sputtered, "What leaves tonight?"

"Lia, have you been listening to anything?" Kie cried out, "Ward has a plane with our gold on it."

She had not been listening. The blonde was at fault for her distracted mind.
