{ Holland }

I groaned when I heard Ashton's alarm go off on the other side of the room. I nuzzled back down under the covers as I felt him move around, shutting the obnoxious noise off,

"Sorry honey" he whispered before slipping out of bed and making sure I was covered up. I heard him grab some things then slip into the bathroom, leaving the bedroom quiet again.

We got home from vacation late last night because Ashton has to work most of the day today, but also because I was going to look at wedding dresses with my mom, grandma, and sister.

I tried going back to sleep while Ashton was in the bathroom getting ready, but I just couldn't. I dragged up out of bed and pulled on a hoodie Ashton left lying around, then grabbed my phone and headed out to the main area. I started the coffee pot then went and sat down on the couch, pulling a blanket over my lap, and scrolled through my phone.

When Ashton walked in, he smiled at me before walking to the kitchen and getting his coffee. I was surprised when he walked around the couch and gave me a mug,

"Thank you" I smiled tiredly, taking a sip,

"Of course" he smiled and took a seat on the coffee table, "What time are you leaving today?"

"We're having lunch at 11:00 then we have an appointment at a bridal shop at 12:30" I grinned. I was actually really excited to finally go look at dresses,

"I'm also asking Nikki to be my maid of honor. I guess we'll see what she says" I breathed out.

"Awesome" Ashton nodded, "I think I'm going to be home around 4:00 so just let me know your dinner plans"

I smiled with a nod as he stood up,

"Alright, I gotta head out" he kissed my lips, "I love you"

"I love you"

I got to Panera Bread a little later than what we had planned. When I walked in, I saw my mom, sister, and grandma already sitting down and eating. They couldn't have waited? I mean I'm only like five minutes late.

I quickly ordered then went and took a seat with them,

"You're late" my sister hummed,

"I know. There was a wreck on my street" I sighed as I was given my food.

We all ate in silence mostly,

"Are you excited for today?" my grandma grinned,

"I'm really excited" I smiled giddily,

"Have you seen anymore venues?" she asked next,

"We are going to look at one later this week. If it's like it looks and sounds, I think it'll be the one. It's a bit pricier but Ashton and I have worked with our budget and are able to make it work if it's what we want"

"Or do a church and not break your budget. Plus if it's a church we'd pay for it" my mom chimed in,

"Mom, we aren't getting married in a church. I've told you that" I sighed,

"And why not? Why are you so against it?" she rebutted,

"Well first, Ashton's not Catholic. And second, we don't want too. We don't exactly meet the standards of the classy Catholic couple"

"Maybe you should've been smarter about who you date" Nikki piped in.

I took a breath and calmed myself. Today's supposed to be a fun day. I mean, I'm looking at wedding dresses. This should be every mom and daughters dream to do together.

We all finished up eating then headed back out to our cars. Nikki decided she was going to ride with me, which is fine, but I'm nervous she's gonna say stuff.

We got to the bridal shop but I kept Nikki in the car for a second and handed her the box I had made to ask her to be my maid of honor. She gave me a look then slowly opened it. She took a look then looked at me,

"No" she spoke. I felt my heart drop,

"What? You're my little sister Nikki. I want you to be my maid of honor" I fought,

"Well I don't want to be. I don't even want to be a bridesmaid" she said then got out of the car. My heart clenched as she shut the door.

I took a second to keep myself composed before I got out and followed my family into the bridal shop.

"Hi, you must be Holland" a lady came to us right away. I nodded and she grinned,

"Alright. Let's go look at some dresses then we will try them all on" she told me. I nodded and followed her as we all looked at dresses, putting a pile together. Once I had a good group, I headed into the dressing room with the worker.

I started trying dresses on but I just didn't like any of them. I didn't even walk out to show my family because I knew, for me, they were hard no's. But I got to the last one, and as soon as it was on, I cried. It was gorgeous. It had a deep neckline and was a lace patterned material. It was a straight dress underneath but had a shear train on it,

"Sweetie, you look stunning" the worker smiled, "How do you feel?"

"I absolutely love it"

"Should we go show the others?" she asked. I nodded and we walked out. My grandma gasped and covered her mouth,

"This is the one" I smiled,

"Oh yes it is" Grandma grinned. I couldn't read my mom or sister so I didn't know what they thought.

I walked back and got the dress off. The worker got it hung up and bagged and put my name on it,

"I'll take you up front and we will get payment. Then we will hold onto the dress until you're ready for alterations"

I nodded and followed her out, handing over my credit card. Ashton might have a slight heart attack when he sees the total on the credit card bill. The dress was slightly over what I planned but that's okay.

I was given a receipt and headed out the door with my family,

"Thanks for letting us come" my mom smiled,

"Yeah" I nodded, "Do you like the dress?"

"I love it" she smiled, "If you had your wedding in a church I would've paid for it"

I sighed but just nodded,

"Ashton's going to love it too" my grandma told me,

"I think so too"

I got home and could smell good cooking and could hear my fiancé singing to the Frank Sinatra song he had playing over the speakers.

I sat my purse on the counter and walked up behind Ashton, wrapping my arms around his waist. He laughed and lifted one of his arms so I could tuck into his side,

"How was it honey?"

"I found the dress!" I grinned, "I absolutely love it Ash"

"I bet you're going to look amazing" he smiled, "What did your sister say when you asked about maid of honor?"

"She said no. She told me she didn't want to even be a bridesmaid" I spoke, my voice lightly shaking. Ashton pushed the pan to the side and pulled me into a hug,

"I'm so sorry honey" he whispered and kissed my head,

"It's okay. I expected it" I sighed.

We stayed hugging for a couple of seconds before Ashton let go to tend to the food,

"Dinner will be ready soon"
