Death was peaceful. From the moment Talulla felt that final breath quiver out from between her lips, it felt like something had lifted off of her shoulders. The pain dissipated and her body felt like it had returned to it's regular human state. Before the mercury flooded in her body, and before her death, she'd felt uncomfortable in her own skin. She felt violated.

Though most people knew of her interest in the supernatural, Talulla never strived to be more than human. She was fine with getting sick, getting bruises, she was even fine with bleeding from something as small as a paper cut. And in her last few days she didn't get to experience anything human, because ultimately, she was no longer human. Her status as a human was unrightfully stolen, and because of that Talulla felt less and less like herself as death took it's sweet time creeping it's way towards her.

Coming to terms with her death just hours before everything came to end was both difficult and easy. She'd seen a chimera in the same boat as she was, and knew that every single one that came before her had suffered the same way she did. Talulla knew what fate destined for her the moment she saw that thick mercury liquid contrasting from the bright white of toilet bowl in front of her. And even as she ran through the rain just hours before the end of her life, drenched and in unimaginable pain, she never once gave herself hope of a life she knew she was no longer going to have.
