Chapter 24

Karmen's P.O.V.

I wake up and check the time. It's 2:30 in the morning. I stand up to go pee and hear loud footsteps from downstairs. Panicking, I start to wake Luca up. "Luca! I heard someone downstairs," I whisper yelled as his eyes opened. He immediately sat up and grabbed his gun from the night stand.

"mi amor, stay here." He said, then leaving the room. I sat there for a second before I started to worry about Micah and Caleb. I slipped my robe on and grabbed my baseball bat from under the bed.

I went to Calebs room first, he was sleeping calmly in the bed. I rubbed his arm to wake him up. "Caleb, someone is in the house, come on we have to get Micah." I whispered. He reached over and grabbed a knife from beside his bed. I guess Luca gave him that when I said he couldn't have a gun. He stood up and I peeked out the door to make sure the coast was clear.

When I thought it was safe enough, we went across the hall to Micahs room, and she was already awake. We sat in there for about 20 minutes until I heard 3 gunshots. Making me and Caleb freeze.

After a few more minutes I heard someone running up the stairs and a door slam open. "Fuck! Karmen! Karmen!" I heard Luca yelling from down the hall. I immediately stood up from Micahs bed and opened her door. "I'm in here!" I said and he looked towards me and his face immediately relaxed. He ran and engulfed me in a hug.

"I thought I lost you." He whispered not letting me go. "I'm okay, I just had to make sure the kids were okay."  I whispered back. "Daddy, what's wrong?" Micah asked from behind me. Luca's face paled for a second before he quickly put his gun away and picked her up.

"Nothings wrong baby I'm okay, I just couldn't find you guys." He said sweetly soothing her. He held Micah with one arm and opened his other for Caleb to hug him.  I put my hand flat on Luca's back. "Okay, it's late it's time for bed." Luca said, laying Micah back down.

The three of us left her room and I noticed a man standing watch at the end of the hallway. "I'll explain in a second love." Luca said when he saw my confusion. We took Caleb back to his room and said goodnight before going back to our room.

"So what happened?" I asked him while pulling my robe off. "You remember a while ago when I had that trip to Bermuda planned?" He asked. I nodded my head for him to continue "well I ended up not going because this guy Ivan we were looking for disappeared. We still don't know where he is but as of right now we have his son in a cell." He said and I can tell he is exhausted.

"Okay, well let's just get some sleep and you can deal with it in the morning, yeah?" I said laying down and opening my arms so that he could lay on my chest. "Go to sleep baby," I said stroking his hair.

I woke up to an empty and cold bed. I stood up and threw on some sweat pants and one of Luca's shirts and went to find everyone.

I walked into Luca's office without knocking and saw that he was in a meeting. "Oh I'm sorry I'll come back later." I said turning around but Luca stopped me. "No need, come here." He said and I walked around his desk and he pulled me into his lap.

"How did you sleep?" He asked like there weren't other people in the room. "I should be asking you that. you were so tired last night." I said, kissing his forehead. "I slept amazingly." He said before turning his attention back to the people in the room.

"Vincent, Catalina, this is my fiancé, Karmen. Karmen, this is Vincent and His partner/sister Catalina. They are my primary weapons manufacturer and distributor." He introduced.

"It's nice to meet you guys." I said, trying to get comfortable. "You too." They said, "Have you seen the kids?" I asked Luca. "Yes. Caleb went to the range with Enzo and Antonio and Matteo and Andy took Micah to some bear store at the mall." He answered, rubbing my thigh.
