Karmen's POV

I was just about to walk into Lucas's office but when I got close to the door I heard muffled yelling. I'm 98% that there's no one in the house who he would be yelling at like that so I'm assuming he's on the phone.

I waited outside for a few minutes after the yelling stopped before walking in with a small knock. His frustrated face seemed to relax when he had seen it was me. "Hello beautiful, what's up?" he asked with a small smile.

"I was just coming to say hi, but I heard you yelling... Is everything okay?" I asked timidly. He sighed and leaned back a bit in his chair before answering. "Just stupid people, doing stupid things. Nothing I can't handle."

"Do you want me to come back later?" I asked, suddenly feeling like a bother. "Of course not. Come," he said pushing his chair back and opening his arms.

I quickly walked over and sat down on his thigh and relaxed as he wrapped his arms around my torso. "How's everything going?"

"Well we planned on making our move in a few weeks but since that dipshit on the phone let information slip we have to move it way sooner." he sighed.

"I'm sorry..." I comforted him. "It's fine. I will figure it out," he mumbled pushing his head into my neck.

"Luca?" I asked, to which he responded with a hum. "What's going on with you and Matteo?" they've been acting weird since I got back. That Matteo hasn't been in any of the meetings with Luca and they barely talk.

Luca pulled his head from my neck, with a guilty and sad expression. "After you were taken things got rocky. He kept blaming me for everything that happened, which I get was my fault. That night keeps running through my head. So after a few months, he asked if he could retire, and I let him. Usually, you live and die the mafia but I couldn't force him to be in something that took you away." he answered not meeting my eyes.

We hadn't talked about that night since I got back. It was an accident and I knew reacted I hate the fact that he blamed himself. "Hey, it's not your fault it's Dimitri's. Besides, I overreacted it was just an accident." I spoke running my fingers through his hair.

"It wasn't just an accident. It was an accident that cost us- you, 5 years. God Karmen, I'm so sorry." his voice was shaking. I placed a kiss on his head and leaned closer into him. "It's okay because it's almost over."

"Now enough with the sad stuff. Ana did this insanely cute thing earlier I was about in tears. I was walking down the hallway and she ran up calling me momma. She was so excited and happy I thought j was going to spontaneously combust at the sight." I rambled on. Luca just looked up at me the frown on his face quickly turned to a grin when he heard my story.

After hearing a knock at the door, I left the kitchen to see that Luca had already answered it but I couldn't see who was there.

"Luca?" I asked as I approached him. When he turned around I got a glimpse of who was there and I realized why Luca looked so annoyed.

"Hey, Karmen..." he greeted me nervously. "Jersey? What are you doing here?" I asked, coming to stand next to Luca. "I was talking to Cami and she said you were back I just wanted to see for myself." he chuckled, still feeling the nervous tension Luca was creating.

"How did you even get to the door?" Luca blatantly asked.

"I'm not even sure, to say the least. I just told the guy me and Karmen were friends and he let me come up." he shrugged.

"Well hi! Come on-" just as I was inviting him inside, Caleb and Micah came Barrelling down the stairs with Ana running behind them.

"Mom!" they both shouted looking around for me. "I'm right here, what's up with you two?" I questioned them.
