"It's okay, Mom; we don't have to do everything," I reassured her softly as we made our way to Adrian's aunt's party, hosted by Mrs. Voilet Locason, Adrian's father's sister.

Skylar gently placed her hand on my shoulder and whispered, "Trust me, Emberly, you'll appreciate this later."

Taking a moment to check my reflection in the mirror, I admired my pink off-shoulder prom gown with a plunging neckline and thigh-high slit that showed off my left thigh. Mom and Skylar looked stunning in their own elegant gowns as well.

As we entered the luxurious hotel where the party was taking place, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the support of my mom and Skylar.

I noticed a bustling crowd of people here - ladies in elegant dresses, men in sharp suits, some even smoking, and waiters rushing around with trays of appetizers and drinks. The atmosphere felt like a typical family party, with children running around and accidentally bumping into the servers.

Suddenly, a stunning woman with long brown hair and a vibrant yellow gown approached us. I assumed she was Adrian's cousin until my mom recognized her as a sister-in-law; she turned out to be Adrian's father's aunt. She was so glamorous that I almost mistook her for an Italian supermodel.

"Nice to see you again, Aubrey," she said to my mom in a sweet and enchanting voice.

"It's been too long," my mom replied. The aunt then turned to Skylar, embracing her warmly.

 "How is my darling niece doing?" she asked, affectionately stroking Skylar's hair.

"I'm doing great, Aunt. How about you?" Skylar responded, before turning her attention to me. With a curious expression, she glanced at my mom.

Mom then reached out and placed her arms around my shoulders, creating a comforting and supportive embrace.

Aunt's eyes widened with delight and she gave a little gasp. "Adrian's wife," she exclaimed enthusiastically, wrapping her arms around me and showering me with kisses on the cheeks.

"Finally, we get to meet you," Aunt said with a smile, squinting her eyes as she held my hand tightly.

"Let's introduce her to the rest of the family," Aunt suggested to my mom, who nodded in agreement.

I was touched by the warm welcome from Adrian's family, all of whom came from privileged backgrounds.

Mom asked, "Where is 'Ethan,' Violet?"

"Who's Ethan?" I whispered to Skylar.

"He's Aunt Violet and Uncle Phil's son," Skylar explained as she scanned the room.

"Here he is," Aunt pointed out, and I turned to see him at the counter.

An exceedingly attractive man around Adrian's age stood at the bar, casually sipping on a drink that the bartender had just made for him.

As Mom and Aunt chatted with a group of ladies, Sylar guided me over to the charming man.
I furrowed my brow as I watched them interact.

Skylar embraced him and said, "How's my handsome brother?" He returned the hug with a smile.

"How are you, my dear sister?" he replied, planting a kiss on her forehead.

"Always amazing," she laughed.

His gaze then met mine, causing my cheeks to flush with warmth.

Skylar happily announced, "She's Adrian's wife," wrapping her arms around mine.
