We stepped closer and closer to the courthouse. I bit my lip.
I can do this, I can do this...

"Nervous?"

"N-No! Uh, y-yes. Um, a-a little bit...?"
I chuckled nervously.
"Even though I'm just a councillor and you can manage pretty well without me..."

Simon smiled softly.
"We are in this together, L/N-Dono.
There's nothing to be worried about."

"R-Right!"

An old man called Richard Yen was killed in his mansion at around 3-5 in the afternoon. The wound was well hidden, it was almost assumed a natural death.

The Yen family was very rich and powerful, so it was bound to them to have a lot of enemies.
It was written in Richard's will that if there are no inheritors, the money will go to public use.

The rest of the inheritors were killed in an explosion that Owen and Richard managed to survive.
But there was a lone inheritor- his grandchild, Owen Yen.
Owen is now hiding, scared that someone will soon come after him.

The defendant is Dee Dit, the head of the protesters against the Yen family.
There was a big protest in front of the mansion at the day of the murder, and Mr. Dit came to protest later than usual, his absence matching the time of death.
He was never late or missed a protest, except for the day of the murder.

Simon and I went through this a lot,
I even remember every detail by heart.
Still, I am a little nervous.
Who wouldn't be?

"Y/N! Simon!"
Athena ran to us.

"Morning, Cykes-Dono. Are you the defense attorney on this case?"
Simon greeted.

"N-No. Boss and Apollo are on it."
She sighed.

"Hmm? Both of them? Seems like they are afraid to go alone against you, Simon."
I laughed, trying to shake off my nervousness.

"I... guess you can say that, yeah.
After all, Mr. Wright was screaming from the inside every milisecond of that last case."
Athena said as Mr. Wright and Apollo walked over.

"H-Hey!"
Mr. Wright ego was shattered.

"Well, uh, we've got a tough client and all.
I thought I better come and help, too."
Apollo noted.

"I suppose you are right.
Oh, where's Trucy? Doesn't she usually watch from the gallery?"
I looked around, searching for her.

"She... decided to stay behind.
Practicing her new tricks.
Trucy wants to have a show soon to show off her new abilities!"
Mr. Wright awkwardly jazz-handed.

Umm... alrighty then?
Maybe he's just nervous.

"How about you sit next to me in the gallery, Y/N?"
Athena proposed.

"In fact, Y/N is going to be my councillor from now on."
Simon sounded confident, and even proud. He really believes in me...

"I-Is that so?"
Apollo was debating with himself whether it's a good thing or a bad thing for them.

"Yap!"
Simon's confidence in me made me feel a little better.
Taka landed on my shoulder, and the lawyers took a step back.

"L-Let's go to the defendant's lobby..."
Mr. Wright mumbled, and Apollo nodded.
Athena waved at us, giving us a thumbs up for good luck.

"We should go in, too. The trial will begin in 15 minutes."
Simon said.
We went into the courthouse and into the prosecutor's lobby.

"Morning, prosecutor Blackquill!"
The detective came.
It was not 'Fulbright', of course.

"Second case together, and I'm up and ready to testify.
Oh, and you are...?"

"Skye-Dono, meet my... girlfriend."
I blushed. Something about this word makes me flustered.

"Girlfriend, eh? Detective Ema Skye at your service."
Detective Ema was looking at both of us, a little confused, but she brushed it off.

"I'm Y/N L/N. Nice to meet you.
I'll be Simon's councillor for today."
I shaked her hand.

The bailiff announced that the trial will begin shortly.

"Let's go, shall we, Y/N?"
Simon gestured me to take his hand.

I hesitated.

"...
...Detective Ema. You are familiar with the people working in the Wright Anything Agency, right?"

Simon was wondering why I asked her that. Ema was, too, but she answered immediately.

"Yea, of course. In fact, Mr. Wright and I go WAYYYYY back.
...Why are you asking?"

"I... uh, it's hard to explain, but... when I mentioned Trucy, they...
Um...
Could you just... send someone to their office? To make sure that she is there?"
I didn't have much time to explain. The bailiff was staring at us, waiting unpenitently for us to go.

"Um... I suppose I can..."
Ema said, confused, as she raised her communication device.

"Thank you. And, uh, please don't tell the defense about it."

Simon and I entered the giant courtroom. It looks so different from down here.
I saw Athena in the gallery, but she was deep in thoughts. She noticed me and quickly waved. I waved back as I took my place next to Simon.

He was giving Taka a good pet on the head.
"That's an interesting request you've just made, L/N-Dono. What was it all about?"

"They were calm and cheery while their bodies were worried and stressed. Especially when mentioning Trucy."
I explained quietly, so no one will hear but Simon.

"Hmm, I didn't even notice.
You think something happened?"
He looked at me, serious.

"Yes. I'm sure of it."
I nodded.

"Well, then. If you believe that something is wrong that might effect the defense... We shall stall for time until we get an answer from the Detective's crew."
Simon crossed his arms.
