*Thanksgiving Week*

Karen's POV

It is finally Thanksgiving week! I've been looking forward to this only because I'm ready to eat macaroni and cheese and candied yams. If you don't mix those two together, you're missing out. I'm currently still in bed watching TV, waiting on my mom to wake up. She worked 3rd shift last so she could have the rest of the month off. But anyways, before I continue, I must tell you about Doe and I's birthday. It was AMAZING!!!! Jacky's mom hosted it and along with our moms and Tam's mom they cooked, Garlic Butter Baked Porkchops, Honey Glazed Salmon, mashed potatoes (homemade at that), green beans and Auntie Cassandra made her famous homemade biscuits. During dinner, our moms shared their favorite memories of Doe and I. Jacky and Tam shared stories about when they first met us and Aunt Cassandra and Aunt Yolanda gave us encouraging words for the future.

We really wasn't expecting any gifts because we didn't ask for anything and plus we already had what we needed. Our health, life, amazing moms and amazing friends. But of course our mothers still got us something and to say we were surprised, is an understatement.
*Flashback Birthday Dinner*

We all sat at the table laughing and enjoying each other's company when Aunt Cheryl spoke up.

"Okay, so we know that you girls didn't want anything materialistic for your birthday. But as your mothers, you know we couldn't just not get you anything." She said looking between Doe and myself

My mother spoke next and of course being the typical mother, she got emotional. That made everyone start crying

"Before we give you your gifts, I just want to tell you how proud I am of the woman you're becoming. I know we've had some rough patches in the past but we made it through. I'm honored that God chose me to be your mother and that's something I don't take for granted." Val said with tears in her eyes

At this point, I was crying myself. Growing up without a father was hard on me, but seeing how hard my mother worked to provide for me made it easier for me. I'm forever grateful for her.

"I love you mom." I said crying as I hugged her

"I love you too my Kare Bear." She replied

"Love you mommy." Doe said

"Love you too my Rose." Cheryl said

"You girls ready for your gifts?" Valerie asked the both of us

"Yes ma'am." They replied

"You gotta put these on first." Cheryl said as they blindfolded us

After making sure the blindfolds were secure, they led us outside with Tam, Jacky and their moms following behind.

"Okay, there's 4 steps." Our moms said

"Don't let me fall." Doe said

"You gotta hold our hands so you won't fall." Valerie replied

We grabbed our moms hand and walked down the steps.

"Okay, on the count of 3 Cassandra and Yolanda are going to remove the blindfold." Cheryl said

"1. 2. 3!" Everyone counted along

The blindfolds were removed and once our vision was cleared. What we saw in front of us was not what we expected. Our mothers just gifted us the 2001 Lexus LS Sedan 430. We were so shocked, we couldn't talk or move

"Happy Birthday!" Our moms replied

Tam and Jacky had to nudge us to bring us back

"YOOOOO!!! Are you serious!! I'm buggin'!" Doe and I said
