Chapter 8

Y/n's POV
I awaken slightly, the room dark, I'm laying with my back against someone's chest, I look up and see Nick sleeping with his hat on still. I reach up and take it off carefully then place it next to him, he shuffles a little and I feel his arm slide up my side, I get butterflies. His hand stops right above my chest, I giggle and bring my hand up and lay it on his, gently rubbing his hand with my fingertips.
I get a glimps of the sunrise after about an hour of laying in Nicks arms, him still sleeping. I grab my phone and open TikTok, I've been tagged in thousands of videos, I pull up one of the videos and watch it
There's soft music in the back, It shows the beginning of our first stream together, then the part where he pulls me out of the chair and in Nicks voice I hear "guys it's not what it looks like," then a few pictures we had posted flash on the screen. The last thing that shows up is the picture of our hands together.some text pops up 'good luck y/n, we all love you so much!' And a few red hearts.
I smile and tag Nick in it as well. After about 20 minutes of scrolling through TikTok Nick stirs awake. He rubs my finger with his thumb to let me know he's awake, "good morning Meine Liebe ," (my love in German) I say with a smile. He replies in his morning voice
"What's the mean?" He says and moves his hand up to my shoulder.
"Nothing important," I say with a giggle. Soon after he gets up to use the restroom, after he walk out he opens his phone and looks at the video I tagged him in.
he smiles "everyone loves you y/n," and his smile turns back to a blank face. "Let's edit that video of us on the ice now!" He says with excitement.
"Ok, you add a sound you like and I will add special affects," I send it to him. I hear a few sounds until he finds one he likes and then hands me the phone. I look at the video once to get a feel of what song he added. All The Things You Said is the song he added. The beat drops as I fall back into the dip, I add some special affects, I add a shake affect when the beat drops for the butterfly's to be sent through the person watching.
"Ok it's finished," I say and hand it to him. He watches it with a smile.
  "ok I'm going to post it now," he says. A few minutes pass and my mom walks into the room,
"good morning, did you sleep well?" She asks and looks at both of us.
  "Uhhh ya, we slept well," I say nervously with a small smile
"It was vary comfortable," Nick says and looks at me with a smerk.
My mom sits down and seconds later the doctor walks in, "good morning y/n," he shakes my hand, there's a few seconds of silence "so the labs and scans came back, and, you have unfortunately ruptured your spleen and it needs removed as soon as possible. It's a vary simple surgery and will only leave a small scar right here,"
With his finger he runs it along left side of my stumich, tracing a small 2 inch line. "Ok," I say with a nervous smile, I feel someone grab my hand, I look over and Nicks hand is wrapped around mine, his face dull and scared.
After the doctor leaves I turn to Nick, "hey, it's alright, it's not going to be anything bad ok, it's a simple short surgery, nothings going to happen to me," I squeeze his hand as hard as I can, but only managed to squeeze a little bit.
He squeezes my hand back "I know," he faintly mumbles.
He zones out for a while, he suddenly sits back letting go of my hand and pulls out his phone. He aggressively typed something.
Nicks pov
N:dude I'm scared, can you chat for a bit please!
C:ya, why, what's up?
N:y/n needs surgery ASAP and I'm scared
C: it's going to be fine, trust the process.
N:how can I 'trust the process' when the girl of my dreams is being cut open!?
C:dude calm down, seriously, take a deep breath and chill for me. You don't want her to see you freaking out
N:ok, fine I will try my best. I'm just scared something bad will happen
C:hey, if you need someone to talk to I'm here, I'm going to join gorges stream so if you need something text me, you know the drill
N:k thanks man, your the best
I turn off my phone and put it back into my pocket. Shortly after a nurse walks in "alright y/n, I'm here to prep you for surgery," she says as she walks up to y/n. My nerves start to overwhelm me, I jester for y/n to hold my hand, she smiles and interlocks our fingers.
"This is going to be cold, sorry," the lady says and does something to y/n's side
       y/n leans her head back "mmmmmm it's cold!" She squeezes my hand weekly. I giggle at her reaction, she looks at me "don't laugh at me you nimrod, I WILL let go of your hand," she looks over at me with a threatening look.
"ok ok," I says and try to stop laughing. The lady giggles and marks y/n's side with a marker "someone's a little fists today," she says and caps the marker
      "well, true but," she glares at me "my moral support is being a little overboard so," she giggles with a smile
      "oh so I'm your moral support now, I see," I say jokingly in response
A few minutes pass and y/n is almost ready to be wheeled off for surgery, she squeezes my hand lightly and gives me a nervous smile
      I stand up and rub her back " hey, it's ok, I will be here after, I promise, right by your side," as I speak she leans her head against my chest.
      "Thank you Nick, your Meine Liebe and always will be,"
"Still don't know what that means but ok," I say with a giggle and step back as the nurse starts to wheel her bed away. I feel a hand on my back and turn to see y/n's mom, teary eyed looking out the door.
     "You love her don't you, I can see it in your eyes."
Her words send a shock wave of fear through me. " what, no, where just f-friends. Nothing more," I say nervously.
       She pats my back "mmmm I think she's more than a friend to you," she says and walks out of the room quickly. I follow behind her and we sit in the waiting room, I text Clay to keep me distracted from the world around me.
Tim skip
My leg bounces anxiously as I wait for the doctor to come tell us how the surgery went, I see people around us getting told by other doctors and nurses. Some good some bad, the feel the eyes of the man next to me on me. I turn off my phone and sit laying back in my chair, trying to stay calm.
"Who you here for?" The man asks
     "oh, umm she's a friend, close friend," I say and look in his direction
       "So is she a friend or a, girlfriend?" He asks, a curious sound in his voice.
"Girlfriend, I wish," I say dramatically and giggle
         "So you love her?"
"Ya, I guess," I say after a few moments of silence.
"You should tell her how you feel," the man says and stands up, walking away.
       I nod to myself and think of how to tell her, her mom sits down next to me with 2 coffees, handing me one. "Thanks," I say and take a sip of it, soon after I see a doctor walking to us.
He stops in front of us, I look up at him nervously "the surgery was a success, she's currently still sleeping but you can come and see her so your there when she wakes up, follow me," his words send excitement through me and I spring up out of my seat, almost spilling my coffee.
We follow him to a room similar to the one from before, y/n's still passed out on her bed, I giggle at how cute she is. I walk over and sit next to her pulling a chair close to her bedside. My hand lays motionless over top of y/n's
After a while I feel her squeeze my hand, I rase my head to look at her. She's awake now with a smile on her face, she mumbles something but all I can make out is "Meine Liebe,"
       I giggle "welcome back, how are you feeling?" I rub her hand slightly with my thumb
      "It hurts a little bit but I'm ok," she says with a smile
       "By the way the video that I posted earlier is making everyone go crazy, it's kinda funny how many times I have seen our ship name in the comments," I say with a giggle. I see her smile but she doesn't laugh like I thought she would.
     Soon after the doctor walks in with a nurses "alright y/n, we will keep you for another hour or two for observation but then your free to leave. The surgery went well with no complications," she nods and he walks out, the nurse walks up and checks a few things before writhing stuff down on a clipboard.
      "Alright, do you need anything before I leave?" The nurse asks y/n with a smile
       "oh yes some water would be good," she says with a small nod. The nurse nods and walks out of the room, coming back minutes later with y/n's water.
      We sit and chat for a while so y/n can wake up more before we leave. Suddenly the door to the room opens and her dad and siblings walk in. She looks in there direction with a smile "hi," she says giving them all a gentle hug trying to not hunch over any. Her dad steps forward and kisses her head
     She smiles, "how are you feeling compared to Sunday?" He asks softly, giving me a comforting glare.  
     "Better, I'm not really shaking anymore," she says holding her hand out
      "that's good," he responds and rubs her leg slightly, he looks at me "thanks for keeping her company, appreciate it," he says with a smile and small nod
       "No problem coach," I say back at him with a smile, we all chat for a while till finally we are aloud to leave. I feel really bad for having to leave y/n after everything I have done for her the past 2 days, I was kinda use to spending lots of time with her but now I have to go back home.
     Y/n changes into her clothes, and puts on my hoodie before we get ready to leave. Her dad pulls me aside, I start to get nervous, "why don't you come and stay the night. As long as you two don't stay up to late I'm fine with you staying the night." He pats my shoulder.
       "But I have, school, I haven't gone all week," I say shaking my head slightly
      he looks at me seriously "you can still go to school, just stay the night, just this once for now." There's a moment of silence. "once you prove yourself worthy you can stay anytime," he pats my shoulder and turns pulling me back with everyone who is getting ready to leave.
      I walk up to y/n before we leave, "hey, your dad asked me to stay the night, are you ok with that?"
      I say and instantly her face lights up, "ya of course," she smile remains as she gets into the car carefully.
      I go to my car and start to drive to my house to grab a few things, after all our houses are really close, it only takes me 5 minutes to get there. When I get to my house I quickly run into the house and grab some clothes and my school uniform, deodorant and my toothbrush then go back downstairs and get into my car and start driving to y/n's house.
