"I'm so fucking tired," Billie moaned from the passenger seat

"I'm so fucking tired," Billie moaned from the passenger seat. I couldn't help but laugh. "Hey, this was your idea."

She placed her hand on my thigh and brought out her baby voice, "I know that."

"Stop complaining then." I rolled my eyes playfully.

"Less of that" she smirked, "I'm the one that tells you what to do."

I couldn't help but let a nervous laugh out, "whatever."

We drove for another hour until we reached our destination. It was still pitched black outside, but that was the intention since we were about to go on an hour long walk to watch the sunrise. "You ready?" Billie smiled eagerly, "I'm ready."

We climbed out of the car and threw on our puffy coats. Billie grabbed the bag filled with food and water, whilst I grabbed the torches.

"I fucking hate this shit," I whispered, keeping my eyes fixated on the inky gaps in between the trees. Something about the dark terrifies me, I think it's a fear of the unknown.

Billie who was initially walking in front of me slowed down and grabbed my hand protectively, "it's all good. I got you."

"What if..." she cut me off, "what if nothing. I got you."

We hiked up the steep footpath, she never let my hand go once. We stopped a few times to catch our breath and have a drink of course, but for the most part we hustled on - up until the footpath fell dark, and at a glance upward I realised we had to walk through a wooded area in the middle of the night.

"No." I stopped in my tracks, giving her puppy dog eyes. "It's ok pretty, I'm here."

"No, I can't." I repeated, my voice shaky. "Come here." She wrapped her arm around me tightly and I felt instant calmness. "I've got you."

We walked through, and even though I was shit scared, I knew that it was going to be ok. She kept a grip on me, squeezing me tightly every now and again just to reassure me.

Finally, we made it, and just in time. Billie interlocked our fingers as we neared the edge.

You have to be there to feel it. The view takes your breath away. It's like looking out of your plane window, except everything is high definition, there's no finger-print marked glass obstructing your view. After an exhausting, cold few hours you can finally soak up your surroundings whilst the growing golden disc warms up your body. You're so high up that the fluffy pink clouds are under your feet, you literally feel on top of the world. To one side of you the stars still light up the sky, while the other side is coming to life. Pink turns to yellow, which graduals to a deep saffron and watching it you realise that nothing really matters except this moment.

I looked toward Billie who already had her eyes on me, "you look cute." She smiled, I felt my face heat up in a matter of seconds. "Shut up."

She giggled cutely, "no seriously, look at you taking it all in. Adorable."
