Y/N’s POV

Today was matchday for Lily she plays for the under 13s Regents Park women’s team which at the moment is nothing major just one of our local clubs. She hopes to be noticed by a scout when she’s old enough to hopefully play for the England women but for now she’s happy to be playing for her local team. Lily had always been brought up with football because of Luke and she wanted to continue it when she grew older so here we are. Lily’s team had been playing really well all season and now they had reached the finals of the tournament for this season. They were going to be playing against Camden women’s youth team. Kick-off was at 10 and it was 9 now so I went and made sure everyone was awake and getting ready. “Morning Luke are you ready for football?” “Yeah I am and I got Reign dressed he’s in the lounge watching Peppa Pig.” “Oh, good and where is Lily, I haven’t seen her yet this morning is she awake?” “Yeah she’s awake the last time I saw here she was going to get dressed.” “Oh okay I’ll go and check on her be back in sec.” He kissed my head and went into the lounge. “Lily?” “In my room!” I walked into her bedroom and saw her packing her kit bag. “Hey, have you got everything? Shinpads? Socks? You forgot them last time.” “Yes mum I’ve got everything. Can you plait my hair though please?” “Yeah of course, pass me your brus h and sit on the end of the bed and I’ll do it.” Lily went and sat down and I started brushing her hair. I started plaiting I was just speaking to her about the match later. “Right there you go love.” “Thanks mum.” “I think we are going to head off in a bit because dad wants to grab some food from the shops and also there will probably be traffic, so we don’t want to be late.” “Okay I’ll be down in  a sec.” I left her room and joined the boys in the lounge. “Hey Y/N is she nearly ready to go because we both are, aren’t we Reign.” Reign just looked at him and smiled. “Yeah, I think she’s just going to the toilet then I reckon we can go.” “Cool.”

Lily came down the stairs with her bag slung over her shoulder and her boot bag in her hand. “Hey Lil give me this I’ll take it to the car for you.” “Thanks Dad.” “Right let me get your bottle from the fridge Lily whilst you get in the car and can you take Reign with you and tell your dad to strap him into his car seat. “Yeah, sure mum, c’mon Reign lets go see daddy.” Reign wobbled over to Lily and grabbed onto her hand as she led him out of the house and to the car. I filled up the drinks bottles and locked up the house. “Okay I think we are all good to go Luke and remember don’t forget to stop at Tescos on the way.” “Yeah yeah Y/N I know.” We arrived at the shops and Luke quickly hopped out grabbing the stuff he returned and handed Lily a protein bar which she has before every match. “Right to the football!” Luke announced. The kids in the back cheered. We pulled into the car park and I helped Reign out of the car and grabbed onto his hand so he wouldn’t run. Luke grabbed Lily’s kit and we walked her to the pitch so she could get started with training.

Luke’s POV

I was really looking forward to Lily’s match as I couldn’t always watch her matches because sometimes I had training at the same time. She had a great passion for football which made me happy because we shared a common interest. Her team were all warming up so Y/N and myself took Reign over to the stands so we could watch her. It was 9:50 so Lily had to go into the tunnel before the match started. “I’ll be back in a sec Y/N I’m just going to talk to Lil quick.” “Alright wish her luck from me as well.” “Will do.” “Hey Lily are you alright?” “Yeah I’m good dad just a bit nervous for this final its such a big match for our team.” “Yeah but you’ll be great Lily think about how much training you’ve done for this you have worked really hard and no matter the outcome we will all be proud of you.” “Thanks dad, I should probably go back and join the team.” “Yeah your mum wishes you good luck as well.” I kissed her head and went back to Y/N and Reign. “Is she alright Luke?” “Yeah she’s fine just pre match nerves but its normal.” Y/N nodded. The teams walked onto the pitch and the crowd all cheered. Lily was a striker. They all took their positions on the pitch and the captains from both teams did a coin flip to see who got first ball. The opposition got first but the girls didn’t seem fazed. The game was going well and both teams were very equally matched so it was hard for either teams to score. At around half an hour into the match the Camden Women made it 1-0, I think it knocked some of Lily’s team confidence but luckily just before half time one of Lily’s closest friends scored making it 1-1. The crowd went were cheering loud and proud as this was her first time scoring.  Lily ran over to her and hugged her. Y/N hugged Maddie’s mum (they have been friends for years) and praised her daughter’s skills. Reign was clapping but I don’t think he really knew why. The girls all broke for half time and Y/N went over to talk with Lily. At the end of half time the teams came jogging back onto the pitch and they all looked confident and energetic for the second half.

The second half started with strong possession from the Regent Park women however at around 75 mins Camden scored making 2-1 to them. Lily looked gutted but we were all cheering them and reassuring them that they could come back from this. There was 10 mins left of game and we had now equalised 2-2 but we would have to go to penalties as it was the finals. The game only had a few minutes left and we were still drawing 2-2. The ball was in our goal area and was passed to Lily she ran into the penalty box and booted the ball, it went straight into the back of the net and we all cheered and shouted for her. She ran and hugged her teammates and then ran over to us. Y/N scooped her into a big hug and congratulated her on her winning goal. She gave me a big hug and I told her how proud of her I was. Before she ran back onto the pitch she picked up Reign and gave him a big hug. Lily ran back onto the pitch to resume the few remaining minutes of play. “Omg Luke I’m so proud of her that was an incredible goal from her and now the team have won the tournament for this season.” “Yeah I know Y/N she played incredibly well and I’m so happy for her.” Y/N kissed me and we heard an ‘ew’ from Reign I chuckled at him. The match ended and we all cheered for them. The referee went off the pitch to retrieve the medals and the trophy. Camden women were awarded their medals first and then Lily’s team. The trophy was handed to the captain and we all cheered for them.

“Lillllly!! Well done you played so well sweetie and what an incredible goal you should be so proud.” “Aw thanks mum I’m so happy.” I engulfed Lily in a big hug and congratulated her on her play. We all went out for lunch to celebrate Lily’s win.
