Chapter 20

I walked out of the house to see Rodrick already standing out by the van. "That's suspicious, why are you already out here. I'm usually the first one out here. Well aside from the other day but that wasn't normal"

"Don't worry about it" He had a mischievous smile on his face.

(Skipping past the school day and to them leaving school)

Instead of going home we immediately left to go on the date.

We arrived at the area that I barely recognized. Last time we were here I was having a breakdown, as I opened my door Rodrick practically sprinted around the van to grab my hand and pull me in a direction. "Come on nerd, it's this way" he said sounding as excited as a kid who just got a puppy for Christmas. "Close your eyes!" After a bit we stopped. "One second," I heard him moving something and then run away before shortly coming back "and... done! You can open your eyes now!"

Infront of me was Rodrick sitting on a blanket on the ground, next to him was a picnic basket and a laptop. He was looking up at me waiting for my reaction. I looked at my surroundings then everything infront me again before looking at Rodrick with a smile.

"This is so... perfect."

He soon had a extremely big goofy smile. "I made sure to get your favorite movie so we could watch if on the laptop. Oh, and I also snagged us some monsters. And of course there's food and candy."

"You're amazing" I laughed with a smile and probably flushed cheeks before sitting down next to him on the blanket.

"I know" he winked and laughed back with a red face. We talked for a bit before deciding to watch the movie. About 10 minutes in he very obviously fake yawned and put one arm around my shoulder.

"Smooth moves rockstar" I said leaning into him a bit more.

"I know Im the absolute worst" he said sarcastically.

The movie got to the part where the dude was putting up posters trying to find Sam but didn't know who she was.

"This dude is so stupid, like seriously it was just a mask. If he likes her it wouldn't be that hard to find her."

"It's a movie dumdum"

"I'm just saying I'd know it was you if you were wearing a mask"

"I'm so glad you have working eyes." without even looking at him I knew he rolled his eyes in response

The ending eventually rolled around and they kissed in the rain at the homecoming game.

Rodrick laughed joking " So to get you to kiss me, just be incredibly stupid and make you angry at me?"

My face turned bright red and I hid into his chest saying timidly "I-I I would prefer if you didn't purposefully make me just to kiss me."

The credits song was now playing. I felt Rodrick's eyes on me while I just stared at the ground. There was silence for a bit before he took a deep breath. "There's one more reason I brought the laptop" he removed his arm from my shoulder and grabbed the laptop. He hid it from my view pulling something up, he turned it to me to show me a image of him sitting at his drum set. "I, made this video for you..." he hit the space bar causing the video to play.

I looked at him with a smile raising my eyebrow meanwhile his smile was very small, he mostly just looked at me extremely anxiously. I turned my attention back to the video when it continued.

...] The songs continued and I was mouthing the words along with Rodrick's video. When it was finished I threw my arms around Rodrick in a hug. That was amazing Rodrick! It took a second before he hugged back but when he did it was tightly. The hug felt like it lasted a forever but when it broke i still wished it was longer we both had bright red faces.

He then put on a playlist while we ate more from the picnic basket and talked.

The sun had set at some point. I opened my camera to take a photo of Rodrick while he was talking in depth about some obscure instrument. I didn't really have a clue what he was talking about but it's cute when he goes on rants so I'm not complaining. I glanced at the time before putting my phone away. It was already 9:30. I can't believe so much time had passed. We were now out of snacks and I was starting to get hungry. I stood up stretching.

"Hey Rodrick, Although I love sitting here with you can we please go eat? I'm starving."

"Nope! Let's just starve to death. Perfect way to end the date right?" He joked

"You're a asshole" I laughed back

"I know, but you love me anyway" he smirked as he stood up

"We'll see how the rest of the date goes~" I joked back

He walked up and put his arms around my waist pulling me against him. He looked me right in the eyes. God, he can't just do that. Butterflies did loops in my stomach.

"Okay, bet" He smile deviously at me. I knew my face was bright red. About a minute passed of me not being able to respond.

"What? Cat got you tongue, babe?" He moved his face closer

”U-um I I-I” I couldn't form a single thought and anxiously looked away from him

He laughed "You're adorable." He removed his arms and bent down to pick up the stuff. He quickly picked up everything in one arm and reached for my hand. Meanwhile I was still essentially paralyzed. "(Y/N)~? Ready to go?"

"Y-yeah, yep”

Soon we were in the car and on our way to go and eat.
