~Chapter 30~
Ringing
That's all Tony heard after the explosion was ringing
He cleared his throat and looked around the rubble around him, groaning
"What.." he mumbled
He wasn't even sure what happened... One minute they were standing around Hulk-Bruce while he snapped his fingers, trying to use the Stones to bring everyone back
The next, the entire Avengers Compound was being blown to bits
He groaned and looked around quietly
He spotted Cap in the rubble not too far from him
He grabbed his shield from the ground and ran to the Captain, helping him up
"Come on buddy... Wake up..." Tony said as Cap got to his feet, "That's my man"
He handed over his shield
"Lose this again and I'm keeping it" he said
"What happened..?" Steve asked, looking around
"You messed with time" Tony replied, "it tends to mess back. You'll see"
Together they walked to join Thor who was standing on a ledge quietly, his eyes trained on the mad Titan who had just landed on their soil
"What's he been doing?" Tony asked
"Absolutely nothing.." Thor said, looking at him
"Where are the Stones?" Steve asked, looking around
"Somewhere under all this" Tony said, gesturing to the rubble, "all I know is that he doesn't have them"
"So we keep it that way" Steve replied
"You know it's a trap right?" Thor asked, looking at them
"Yeah but I don't much care" Tony replied
"Good. As long as we are all in agreement" Thor replied
Thunder cracked around them as he summoned two weapons, a large powerful axe, and Mjolnir
His causal clothing transformed into battle armor and his long bread braided itself
"Let's kill him properly this time" Thor declared
They all nodded and quietly made their way to Thanos
Thanos watched them quietly before he spoke, his voice soft yet intimidating
"You could not live with your own failure. And where did that bring you? Back to me. I thought by eliminating half of life, the other half would thrive." He spoke, "But you’ve shown me that’s impossible. And as long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be. They will resist.."
Tony sighed deeply "Yep." He said, "we're all kinds of stubborn"
