"Don't come here again"

🌿

"A river? Why do you want to know that?"

Irene let her finger drop into the water, as she played around. It created a circle like wave, one that spread out until it disappeared. The faint sound of water dropping down echoed loudly. Irene felt Evadne's hands in her hair as she thought of something convincing to excuse herself with. The taller girl had previously been frustrated with how badly Irene was washing her hair, and had forcefully taken over the task. Since then, Irene had only sat in the pool, and played with the water.

"I don't know, I'm just curious"

Evadne didn't seem exactly convinced, but she had always been kind and didn't really need a reasoning to start talking. Her hand left Irene's hair, as she vaguely pointed towards the left.

"There's a river behind the west mountain, it's the closest one"

Irene tried her best to memorize the location and instructions. She couldn't help but ask though.

"Is it the snake tongue?"

Evadne had looked surprised.

"How do you know about the snake tongue?"

Irene had only grinned.

"There was another one like you, who came here two days earlier"

Ariadne is laid down on the grass, her hair spreading around beautifully. It's almost like the leaders hair has gotten brighter and longer since they first saw each other. It wouldn't be surprising. Irene's hair has also grown under the excessive sun, and the light brightens Ariadne's hair. It's nice like this.

The warm breeze makes Irene feel all giddy. Despite loosing her brother to an unknown place, Irene has been happier here than ever before. She can hear the birds chippering, talking among each other high up in the big tree in the garden. Irene's painting lays on the grass, untouched ever since Ariadne arrived after finishing her work. Irene is charmed by the taller's beauty. She immediately found herself smiling when the blond laid down on the grass and stared up at the bright blue sky.

So of course, it was the perfect moment. Ariadne wasn't stressed, the climate was comfortable and best of all, they were all alone. Inside one of the many gardens, secured behind white marble walls decorated with big flowers and bushes. So Irene couldn't help but ask. Ask about her brother.

""Since it was a boy, Thea sent him to where the men live"

Irene was surprised by that. After a whole month gone by without seeing a single man, even hearing about them was weird. How could there be a place where men live? Do they live like the women? In a city, together, all secluded from any other gender but themselves?

"Where do the men live?"

Irene tried her best to continue asking. It was a perfect opportunity and she wouldn't let it go no matter what. Ariadne had put on her thinking face, taking it all lightly. But to Irene, the subject wasn't very light. After all, it had to do with her missing younger brother, who she hadn't seen for four weeks.

"Across the snake tongue. It's very dangerous and can't be crossed on the regular, we took a bit of a risk when we sent him over it. Thankfully though, he survived"
