A piercing headache spread through Jade's head like wildfire. He grabbed his head in the pain, consuming the burning sensation that was pushing him into an invisible hole but he tried not to get do.
Jade got back into his ward and all he wanted to do was to break down. The two people he loved so much deserved him on the same day. Although, he doesn't acknowledge that of his grandfather's but the chairman has always been his role-model. Someone he admire. Someone he had worked so hard for throughout the years.
Jade chewed on his lower lips as tears washed down his eyes. He couldn't hold it anymore. His breathing tightened. His head hurt even more. Jade held his head with both hands and closed his eyes.
I couldn't even say goodbye. I couldn't ask him for forgiveness for being so rude.(A flashback of their last interaction played on his mind.)
"You're acting weird, Jade. Just sit down and shut up..." The chairman hissed under his breath. Thinking he is under the influence of drug or something.
"No, I won't!" Jade fired back and stood up, enraged. "To hell with this family meeting! I'm going to reveal everyone's secret. Because that woman is my everything now! And this is just the start." He blurted out and left their presence in tears.
He couldn't help but to feel resentful for misbehaving at the last family meeting. "How come grandpa did this to me? How could he leave without saying goodbye? Mum! What is going to happen now?" Jade's eyes bleed with pain as he faced his mother.
"Don't worry my son. Everything would be alright. All you have to do is... Believe. I'm so heartbroken as well. I can't believe father-in-law would ever do this to us." She walked closer to Jade on his bed and sat down right next to him.
A line of helplessness flowed through Jade. Thinking about the video, made his bottom lip quiver as his shoulder dropped in resignation. Tears spilling over the sides of his eyes. With this, his vision went blurry, making it difficult for him to see clearly. I feel so weak, mum. And useless.
Watching him in this state was disheartening.
"Come here my son." Kate fell to her son's shoulder in a disheveled hug as grief poured out in a flood of uncontrollable tears. This made her take a short breath, trying to control herself."Yesterday, I spent the night watching over him and he told me nothing. He was suffering so much and I knew nothing. I feel so guilty over h..his death. We've lost the chairman today, Jade..." Her mouth felt salty-watery to the words. Tremor overtook her, making tears race down her sad, brown eyes even more.
Gut-wrenching sobs tore through Jade's lungs as he fought down the hysteria. He held him mum tight and closely. She was the only one left for him now. The only family he trusts.
"I've been a bad son to you, mum. I hate myself... I couldn't ask for grandpa's forgiveness. I missed up big time mum. I'm not worth anything."
"Don't say that Jade. You're the best son any mother would ever wish for. I know you're heartbroken right now but, please. Don't hate yourself. Don't blame yourself for anyone's mistake or decision. Just be yourself and be happy. That's what matter to me. You've gone through enough already..."
"I wish Sapphire would remember me. I miss her. I can't help but to think abou-"
"Thinking about Sapphire would cause you more pain, Jade. Please, forget about her for now and think about yourself." Kate begged.
"Why? Why, mum?! Why do you hate her so suddenly?"
"Don't mistake me. I don't hate her. Her parent gives me no choice. Imagine... Since she's stepped into the picture, everything changed. Look at the Walters today. Where are they? I know they did wrong but... I can't ever show up before them. I can't even face them. I feel our family is falling apart, Jad-"
