Cassius's eyes were locked on to the healed scars of the bites that lay beneath my blistered skin as he spoke the words. His jaw tightened as he glanced past me to meet Axel.

I stood wide-eyed and frozen, trying to translate the words I had heard into something that was plausible. What I was hearing couldn't be right.

Despite my trouble with my hearing, I had no problem detecting the silent conversation that took place between the two men surrounding me as I tried to push past the shock beginning to make my fingers tremble.

I could feel the violet-haired man behind me nod once at Cassius who was looking at him with heavy eyes. They carried the weight of the storm I could see waring within the depths of the blues. The black-haired man returned Axel's nod of understanding with one of his own. He glance back down at my mangled flesh before his hardened eyes landed on mine again, filled with resolution.

"A throne that she shall oversee at my side as Queen." Although Cassius's words were spoken at a normal level, they sounded abnormally loud in the silence that followed his proclamation.

I swallowed past the lump forming in my throat as reality sunk in. I wasn't hearing anything that wasn't being said, and what he was saying wasn't the same as forcing my signature on documents, or taking my blood for some ritual. He said queen. Heir. I was positive there was only a limited few ways that those could be created. Especially if I was meant to "bear" it. I knew many girls would jump at the opportunity to be a queen and pop out babies, but I wasn't one of those. I had a feeling this whole ordeal was going to ruin the thought of having kids for me.

He barked out a mocked laugh. It sounded of disbelief and hate. Any semblance of a brotherly act he had on was gone. I guess he didn't need it anymore. A man like him would only crave the affection of a sibling if it served his purpose.

"You would soil the line just to spite me? Real mature." Though his voice feigned mockery and contempt, the slight tremble of his lips gave him away.

He was scared.

The biggest monster that haunted my dreams was scared of the black-haired man I had unfortunately come across all those months ago.

And that made me scared.

I swallowed hard. Cassius's stormy eyes watched my every move catching the nervous movement of my throat. He rested his hand on my shoulder by my burnt skin. His thumb smoothed down the inflamed skin beside it.

I pressed back into Axel to escape his touch, but it did nothing but make me more uncomfortable as a hardness grew and pressed into my back, leaning my now where to retreat.

I released a breath when Cassius looked away from me, towards Him, but I choked on the next at his words. "So you're telling me your plans for the future of our realm didn't hold her blood in it? Are you angered that her blood will soil our line, or are you just angered it isn't with yours?"

He ground his teeth and narrowed his eyes. Eyes that flicked to me in answer. An answer that had the blood draining from my face as a chilling horror washed over me. I had never had to worry about anything resulting from his or his friend's assaults because he had his doctor friend take care of my contraception. The last thing I would expect, aside from finding out that the torment he inflicted was his demented way of showing his affection, was that he had plans to have children with me.

His lip curled up in a sneer as he aimed his anger towards me. "There's only so much the bitch is good for."

Nausea had my mouth salivating in preparation as I tried to block out the psychological damage just thinking of having His child was causing.
