INT. MINI MART - DAY
Fezco stands behind the cash register, counting the change and opening up for the day. He looks tired. ASHTRAY, Fezco's feisty partner in crime, opens the door and walks in.
FEZCO
Yo, you're late.
Ashtray laughs.
ASHTRAY
What was that, Fez, my hearing ain't so good in the mornings?
He cups a hand around one of his ears.
ASHTRAY
Did you say "thank you for bailing you out last night?" Or maybe you mentioned that I'm God's greatest gift to earth?
Ashtray is pleased with himself but Fezco stands up, agitated.
FEZCO
Bro, I took the fall for both of us. It's my tall ass that has to show up in court, not yours.
ASHTRAY
Easy tiger, we got a big day ahead of us.
Ashtray checks a showy watch on his wrist.
ASHTRAY
Morning meeting in 5?
FEZCO
Make it 3.
They exchange a nod as Ashtray beelines for the back of the shop and into the walk in fridge where they make the real money. As he walks, Rue speaks:
RUE (V.O.)
Now as for how Ashtray joined Fezco's hustle? Well, there are a few different versions.

JULES and Rue stand in front of Fez, buying candy and slushies. Ashtray winks at Jules as he walks to man his station. Without looking up:

Jules looks to Rue, who shrugs as the camera whip pans off them to:
INT. MINI MART - AFTERNOON
NATE and MCKAY stand before Fez as Ashtray rolls out the keg they just bought. Nate scowls at Ashtray.
ASHTRAY (re: Fezco)
He's my uncle.
