Rue timidly approaches Fezco and Ashtray.
ASHTRAY
Speak of the devil.
Ashtray gets up as Rue grabs the wooden rake and starts grooming the sand.
ASHTRAY
I'll letchu catch up with your girl. Imma go see if we got any takers.
FEZCO
Ash--
ASHTRAY
Don't say I never did anything for you.
Ashtray winks at Rue as he saunters into the house.
RUE
How goes it Fezco?
FEZCO
It goes, it goes. What 'bout witchu?
Rue looks up at the night sky.
RUE
You know just wishing there was some kind of greater power to offer some guidance in this hellscape we call life.
Fezco chuckles.
FEZCO
Ain't so bad once you leave high school.
Rue gives him a look.
FEZCO
Aight, it's still pretty shit but at least you can be your own person.
Rue sighs and sits next to Fez in the sand with her back against the bench.
RUE
That's just it - autonomy. Not sure if I trust myself with it.
FEZCO
That's adulthood, bruh.
Fezco looks up at the sky.
FEZCO
Don't wanna waste your time waiting for guidance though.
He looks back at Rue.
FEZCO
Take it from me.
RUE
This Fez, my drug dealer or Fezco, my friend?
