Sammy

It had been over an hour since Ruby left the twins house, and none of us could find her. I'd called her so many times but each time it just rings off. Where'd she go?

"What was she talking to you guys about by the pool?" I asked Gina and Stevie.

They looked at one and other like they were having a silent conversation.

"Nothing really, just about her going home." Gina said after a moment while Stevie nodded.

I couldn't help but think that there was something they weren't telling me. But right now I just wanted to find Ruby.

"Are you sure she didn't just go back to yours?" Rico asked me catching everyone's attention.

"That's a 35 minute walk, and Ruby doesn't really know her way around." I didn't process what I'd said until it left my mouth.

She doesn't know her way around, shit I have to find her. But how?

"I'm gonna check the coast call me if you find her." I said walking away from them and down towards the beaches.

I thought she might have gone back to Gordon bay. But as I was walking down the cost line I looked out at a Clovelly beach just staring at the water when something on the sand caught my eye. Squinting I saw it was Ruby's yellow sundress. My eyes went wide as I ran down onto the beach.

"Ruby!" I shouted but heard nothing.

"Rubes! Where are you!?" I called out, but still nothing.

I felt my heart crack in my chest and tears well in my eyes, she can't be gone. She can't. My legs felt like jelly as they gave away underneath me as I fell to the sand sitting there dipping my head into my knees.

"Ruby!" I called out again.

"Sammy?" My head shot up hearing her voice.

There she was, soaking wet standing in front of me. She looked a little cold yt she was alive, she wasn't hurt and she was here.

I didn't say a word as I jumped to my feet and pulled her into me, burying my face in her soaking wet hair. I tightened my arms around her, feeling like she'd slip away if I didn't.

I finally I pulled back and looked at her, her beautiful face glowing in the moons soft light. She looked up at me as her brow creased and her face saddened.

"You're crying." She said as she wiped my face dry, with the softness she seemed to be blessed with.

"I thought I lost you." I said quietly resting my forehead on hers keeping my arms tightly around her waist.

I closed my eyes just enjoying the feeling of having her. The relief I felt finding her, in knowing she's safe.

"I'm right here Sammy. I'm sorry I scared you." She whispered placing a delicate hand on my cheek.

Instinctively my face nestled into her palm as I let one arm out from holding her to place my own hand over hers. I opened my eyes locking on to hers. I took mine and her hand away from my face and placed her hand on my chest over my rapidly beating heart.

Her eyes followed the movement then snapped back up to meet mine when she felt the rapid pace my heart was going. I wanted to say it was because I was this close to her maybe it was partly to do with that. But it was mainly the thought of losing her that did it to me.

"Don't scare me like that sweetheart, I can't lose you." I whispered. And I meant it.

She didn't speak as her own eyes filled up with tears but before I could say anything, she moved her free hand behind my neck and pulled me down to meet her lips. Shocked but my body instantly reacted as I kissed her back.
