"Thank you for the invitation once again, Lady Cecilia." Elise smiled to the younger woman as soon as she stepped foot inside Winstein mansion. "I am sorry if I was little bothersome when you were not feeling well."
Cecilia Winstein touched her own cheeks and squealed. "Ah, onee-sama is so kind as always~! Of course you were never a bother to me! I was truly grateful for your visits!"
During the time she caught a cold, Elise would visit her almost every day to accompany her, even bringing homemade sweets as a present. Because of that, Cecilia recovered really fast, much to the whole Winstein household's surprise.
The two women sat to their usual place, in the small back garden of the Winstein manor where there's a tea table under a shade. A maid had prepared a tea for the two ladies and stood in a respectful distance from them.
"Ah, that's right, onee-sama." Cecilia leaned up to her ear and whispered. "Father asked nii-san to invite his closest "friend" for a meal in the manor. I know he meant Sir Edward since he is the only closest person my brother has."
Elise stopped and faced her. "Then does that mean..."
The younger woman nodded with a worried look on her face. "Yes. Right now, they are currently in the dining room. Honestly, I'm a little worried for nii-san..."
The brunette patted her head and smiled a little. "Is that why you invited me today? Because you want me to help your brother in case something happens?"
Cecilia tightened the grip on her dress as she nodded again. "I...I know I am always a pushy person and also a tad shameless but, I'm really worried for nii-san since he really fears that father will know. I fear that I may not control my tongue in front of father and will make things worse...."
Elise placed a gentle hand on her shoulder to calm her down. "Please calm down, Lady Cecilia. It's good that you acknowledged this yourself and opted to ask for help. Of course I am willing to help you but this time... why don't you trust your brother more? After all, this is his own battle."
The younger blinked in surprise before glancing worriedly to the manor. "Will it be really all right if we don't interfere?"
Elise looked at the teacup on her hand in thought. "I cannot tell her that Lord Raquel wanted his children to open up to him. He also has to do some effort for his children, especially Lord Adrien to no longer be intimidated by him. Forgive me, Lady Cecilia."
"If things turn awry, then I might have to step in." She promised her with a smile. "If I impose myself, it will look like I am meddling too much in Lord Adrien's affairs. His pride might be wounded that I even have to step in."
"Well, it is true nii-san has a bit of father's pride... but..."
"You worry too much, Cecilia."
The two ladies' attention turned to the new voice. An older woman wearing a blue dress smiled at them in greeting.
"May I join in you, ladies?"
"Mother!" Cecilia stood from her seat and approached her. "I thought you were with father in the dining room with nii-san."
"I planned to but Raquel told me that he wanted to talk to Adrien and his friend alone." She placed a hand on her cheek and sighed.
Elise placed a thumb on her chin. "To be honest, I'm a little worried after hearing that..."
