"Amara!" Kili yelled.
The icy water was cold on my skin. I was freezing.
'I have to get to Bain. Get to Bain.'
Those were the only thoughts going through my head.
I swam closer and pulled myself up on the dock.
"Amara?!" Bain yelled.
"I'm coming with you." I said.
"What about my sisters?" He asked.
"I know that Fili and Bofur wont leave them." I assured him.
"Follow me." He said, after I was on my feet.
The whole town was on fire. People were screaming less and less. I knew many had already died.
"I have this." Bain said when we reached a boat.
He pulled out an arrow. A big arrow.
I gasped.
This was the arrow that could kill Smaug once and for all.
"Come, lets hurry." I said and we ran in the direction of where Bard was shooting arrows from.
We quickly climbed the tower and watched as Bard shot his last arrow.
Smaug bumped the bell tower making it slant a bit, but we both held on. Smaug was circling back around. Uh oh.
"Dad!" Bain yelled.
We had gotten to the top.
"Bain! What are you doing?!" Bard yelled.
I popped up and Bain and I made our way onto the platform.
"Why didn't you guys leave? You were supposed to leave!" He yelled at both of us.
"We've brought you something." I said and looked down at Bain.
Bain held up the arrow. Recognition, that's how Bard's face was when he saw the arrow.
"Amara, both of you go back. You get out of here now." He said touching my face.
I nodded.
I was placing my foot on the first step when Smaug hit the top of the tower, pulling the top completely off.
"Dad!" Bain yelled.
I screamed.
"No!" Bard yelled.
I quickly looked around, seeing only Bard.
Then I heard Bain scream.
I looked down and saw him dangling with the arrow in his hand. Bard and I both rushed over to him and quickly pulled him up.
Smaug circled back around coming towards us. Bain was frozen in shock. I held him close. Bard took the arrow out of his hands.
I knew he was going to kill the dragon once and for all.
"Who are you that would stand against me?" Smaug yelled.
I let go of Bain and stood up next to Bard. I put my hand on Bard's shoulder, letting him know he was not alone in this.
He picked up the wind lance that would help shoot the arrow, but it was broken.
I gasped. This was getting worse and worse and now we had no way to kill Smaug. And he was standing right in front of us!
"Now, that is a pity. What will you do now, Bowman?" Smaug was taunting us. I knew he was going to try and kill us after he let us suffer a bit, knowing we couldnt escape him.
I glared at Smaug, I wouldn't let him know I was afraid even though I was completely and utterly terrified.
"You are forsaken. No help will come." Smaug said.
Bard began looking around. Maybe I could stall? I was always good at that when I was younger. And I could tell by Bard's face and movement that he came up with something to save us.
"Why are you so sure about that?" I yelled at Smaug.
"And who are you?" Smaug yelled.
"I am Amara of Rivendell. Lord Elrond's daughter." I shouted.
"Well Amara-" He began to say.
"Oh no, to you I am Lady Amara." I taunted him right back.
He roared, making me jump back a little.
A sick smile spread across his face as he realized how terrified I was. He looked back at Bard.
"Hmm..Is that your child?"
Bard looked at him, terrified.
"You cannot save him from the fire! You all will burn!!"
Smaug got closer and closer to us, but I saw Bard had built a whole new bow while I was talking to Smaug.
"Bain, come." Bard said.
Bain stood in front and the arrow was placed on his shoulder.
I stood behind Bard.
Bain was shaking.
"Its okay, Bain." I said.
"Stay still, son. Stay still." Bard said.
Bain stopped shaking.
"Tell me wretch how now should you challenge me?" Smaug said and got closer to us. When he lifted up his wing I saw the spot where they could kill him.
"Bard.." I whispered.
He followed the direction of my eyes and saw the mark as well.
Maybe we were going to get out of this alive.
"You have nothing left but your death!" Smaug said and ran towards us.
"Bain! Look at me. You look at me." Bard said.
Smaug was getting closer.
"Little to your left." Bard whispered.
Bain moved.
"Thats it."
I was shaking. I hoped he could kill the dragon. He only had one shot.
Finally Bard shot the arrow and it flew through the air and pierced Smaug.
Bard quickly grabbed Bain and I as Smaug flew into the tower knocking us off and into the cold water.
That was all I remember before darkness over took me.
