standing up I head to the door but eda is already there, opening the door I suddenly gasp. covering my mouth I immediately rejoin amity, covering my face mom joins me and rest her hand on my shoulder
"mi hija.. what's wrong??.."
beginning to hyperventilate I slide my hand to my mouth, staring wide eyed into the black screen of the TV, I see in the reflection eda talking to the so very recognizable man in the doorway. I suddenly choke out
"it's dad.."
mom's head snaps to the door, standing up she rushes to the door and says to eda softly
" I got this my love, go take care of luz.. she's having an asthma attack"
clenching my chest I swallow the lumps in my throat.. it's been so long since my asthma has acted up.. but that gasp.. triggered it. mom begins to talk discreetly to dad, every bit of her voice holding no affection towards the man that left her nine years ago.
"give her a minute adam... you must obviously realize how much a surprise this is.."
pulling me into an embrace I lean against eda, breathing unevenly I say quietly
"thank you mom.."
running her fingers through my hair she chuckles lovingly, passing alex to eda amity holds out her hands. resting my arms onto her hands she lifts up my arms above my head, running her thumbs over my shaking hands she kisses my forehead. closing my eyes I breathe in deeply, my exhale sounding more like a groan than my breath leaving my nose. standing up I see eda pass alex back, turning to the front door I walk heavy footed to the door. looking at dad I see him chuckle nervously, clearing my throat I say thickly and out of breath still
"w-what do you want..?"
he looks taken aback by my response to seeing him, composing himself he rubs the back of his neck
" I was.. finally able to come back-"
crossing my arms I feel my eyes get wet, turning around I reply sadly
"well congratulations dad.. you've missed all the important events but you're back now-"
I hear him ask quietly to mom 'important events?' as I sit down, resting on amity I rest my hand on alex's back. mom scoffs and says hushed in a calm tone
"why don't you go find out yourself adam.."
footsteps fall on the carpet warily, taking easily five minutes to reach the couch. dad leans around the couch and lays eyes on alex, biting his lower lip I see guilt trace his face. looking down he mutters quietly
"I'm.. sorry.."
looking down angrily I shake my head
"if you were sorry.. you'd have never left.. but if you hadn't left- I wouldn't have run away and had an awesome life"
looking at the stairs I see vee walking down with rose in her arms.. must have watched kipo- dad looks over wide eyed at vee, who reveals her basilisk half- standing up swiftly I see dad go to conjure a spell fearfully, going in front of vee I whistle loudly and in a second I'm shielding the spell with my staff, a simple ball replacing where hermes was three years ago.
