"Before everyone leaves. I just want to let you all know that we are doing re-auditions this Saturday" Miss Kate said coming out of her office, Beth and I not even a step out of Studio A, quickly make a reappearance "what? Why?" Michelle asked "It seems some people think it was an unfair audition since we didn't have a choreography rounds so that is what we will do on Saturday, I've invited back our top 20 and we'll go from there" Miss Kate explained I look over at Riley before shifting my gaze to Beth "You didn't" I warned her "Oh but I did" She said confidently walking out of Studio A
Beth and I have been in my room arguing for the last hour "Beth! Why don't you understand! She didn't steal your spot, you lost it when you almost fell AGAIN! This isn't just any team, we are going to Nationals this year!" I yelled "I'm the reason you're going to Nationals James! Without me, you wouldn't have made it through Regionals and now Riley comes back and expects her spot back?" Beth exclaimed "I don't think so" she yelled sitting down on my bed "she didn't expect anything Beth, she auditioned. Just like you did, just like I did! She earned her spot" I replied "I wouldn't have messed up my audition if she hadn't started speaking to you mid audition" Beth said and I groaned "She didn't! I went over to her Beth, I spoke to Riley so get off your high horse! Riley isn't always out to get you" I yelled running my hands through my hair "Yeah you would think that! She has you wrapped around her little finger" She said crossing her arm across her chest "Get out" I said calmly, Beth looked up at me a little confused "What?" she asked "I said Get out" I replied opening my bedroom door "James" She said quietly coming over and rubbing her hands on my chest "Out!" I said a little louder causing Beth to jump She looked at me one last time before leaving..
Several hours had passed, I had to turn my phone off to stop Beth's endless calls, texts and god knows what else "Hey" A voice said making me jump, I turned around to see Riley coming over I had decided to go for a walk after the argument with Beth. I never thought I would run into Riley though "What are you doing here?" I asked "I just dropped Piper home, your mum said you walked out after a screaming match with Beth? I figured you would be here" She said offering me a genuine smile "Where is Sam?" I asked, Riley had better things to be doing then checking on her ex boyfriend, that is for sure "He had to go to tryouts or something, I don't really know" Riley said with a small chuckle "Dare I ask what you two argued about?" she asked nervously "You, as usual" I said sitting back on the bench "Why?" I asked "Beth is the reasons that we have to re-audition. She thinks you stole her space" I replied and Riley rolled her eyes with a laugh "So the same Beth from a year ago then?" Riley asked and I nodded
It was nice, just sitting here talking to Riley. It reminded me a lot of old times "I'm so sorry for what I did to you Ri" I said making her look at me with a smile "I know" She replied "I'm glad you are happy now though. He makes you happier then I ever could" I said and Riley shook her head "Don't doubt yourself James, you'll always be there first guy I ever loved. No matter how we ended, you'll always be there in my heart" She said with a smile, I smiled back at her "How cringey of you" I teased making her roll her eyes "Do you know what I found the other day?" Riley smiled, I looked at her a little confused but she took her phone out showing me a polaroid's she had taken a photo of "Oh my god" I replied "When were these even taken?" I asked and she shrugged "Emily gave them to me a couple years ago" Riley said laughing

"God we were so little" I chuckled looking closer at the photo "I know right, we were like tiny little nuggets" She said making me laugh "Can you believe this is our 5th year on A-Troupe" Riley asked and I smiled "It's been a crazy 5 years" I replied and she nodded "I can't believe we are heading to Nationals" She smiled It's always been a dream of all of our ours to go to Nationals. Finally that dream is coming true
"I reckon we'll go the whole way" I said confidently as Riley and I started walking home "Even to Internationals?" She asked and I nodded "I bet we'll even win that!" I cheered boosting myself a little more "I'll make you a bet" Riley said and my eyes curiously looked at her wondering what was next "If we win Nationals, I'll be your duet partner for Internationals" Riley said with a playful smirk playing on her lips "Under one condition" I replied "What's that James" She said confidently crossing her arms "You have to audition for a duet with me for Nationals" I replied. It was already pretty set in stone that Eldon and Michelle would be our Nationals duet this year But hey any excuse to spend more time with Riley "Sure" She chuckled rolling her eyes "Shake on it" I said holding out my hand, Riley laughed looking at me hand before finally shaking it "It's on" I replied wiggling my eye brows making me push me while laughing It's good to have the old us back, the us before the drama of dating
