Is This Even Worth Fighting For?

This entire last week has been strange and that says something considering nothing of my life has ever been normal
Sam has been practically joined at my hip 24/7 and it's getting a little old
We spoke Sunday night about everything and he agreed to let it go and reminded me that he loves me 
I love him too but I don't know if I'm in love with him anymore
I can't shake the feeling that something else is going on 
"Hey you" He said kissing me before I even had the chance to react
"Hey" I replied as we pulled away
"I can't come with you tonight, I er have to work on that stupid project" He said I shrugged
"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow morning?" I offered and he nodded kissing me once more before leaving as Beth made her way out of the double door
Don't over thinking Riley
You trust Sam
He loves you 
He wouldn't let her do anything 

"No shadow?" James asked coming into Studio A, I rolled my eyes at him
"He's working on his project" I replied and he nodded
"Alright A-Troupe let's get these duet auditions underway" Miss Kate called making both James and I look at each other with a smile
We'd been working on our Audition a lot, since our win at that small competition we thought we would have a real shot at being the duet for Nationals

As I watched other people perform, it truly made me wonder if we did have what it took, Eldon and Thalia's Duet was the definition of perfect
Amanda and Giselle blew it out of the park
Everyone had gotten so much better then the last time we did duet auditions. 
"And finally, James and Riley" Miss Kate called
We too to the floor and James gave me his usual reassuring smile. It's the one thing that has always been able to calm my nerves and make my heart kinda skip a beat a little

"Woah you two, you certainly out did yourself" Miss Kate started
"You all did, we have a very difficult decision to make" Miss Kate smiled before excusing herself with Phoebe
I turned to see James just as breathless as I was
"That was even better then our rehearsals" James said hugging me and I smiled nodding
"Yeah we pushed it to a whole new level" I said handing him his drink

After around 30 minutes, Miss Kate and Phoebe came back out of the office with a smile on their face
"Gather round guys" Miss Kate said making us all rise to our feet
"Closer" Phoebe smiled making us all chuckle
"We want to say first off, you were all incredible and I think this was the hardest choice we've had to make to date" Phoebe said
"But the National Duet is going to... Riley and James" Miss Kate smiled pointing at the pair of us
I quickly shifted my entire body to look at James with a massive smile on his face
He pulled me into the tightest hug we've had in a while
Celebrating with him will always be my favourite thing

"Congratulations guys!" Eldon cheered coming over to James and I will Thalia on his arm
"Thanks" I smiled
"Well I bet you can't wait to go meet Sam and celebrate" Thalia smile
"I'm not seeing his this evening, he's busy working on hsi project with Beth" I replied and both Eldon and Thalia looked at me confused
"What project?" Eldon asked
"Something for Geography?" I shrugged packing my bag
"we haven't been given a project is Geography" Thalia said looking at Eldon
"Beth isn't even in our class?" Eldon said and I looked at the pair of them confused
"Yeah she's in mine and Michelle's" James said and I widened my eyes slightly
"oh?" I said quietly before excusing myself 

Why would he be lying to me? What on earth could he possibly be doing with Beth that would mean he had to lie to me? 
I just don't understand

"Riley wait up!" I hear James call after me, I turn to look at him and he looks concerned
"Talk to me, what are you thinking" He said placing a hand on my shoulder
"Scratch that. I know what you are thinking but don't. Sam wouldn't do that to you" He said and god I hope he was right
"How about the two of us go and hang out? Get your mind off of this. Celebrate our win?" he suggested, I chuckled lightly
This would still be here tomorrow so why put a damper on tonight?
"I'd like that" I smiled making him smile back 
"Then let's go" He replied
