KNOTS UNTIE

It was early in the morning. Lyra had woken me up. Daryl and Taylor were still sleeping. I needed to change Lyra's diaper. I went to check our stash. But, alas, it was empty. I walked over to Lyra's crib. I picked her up. I hoped Rick would have some. I walked downstairs with an unhappy Lyra in my arms. I walked out the door and to Rick's house. I opened his front door and and went upstairs into Judith's room. She was still sleeping. I set Lyra down and then checked their diapers. They had some. I grabbed one and quickly changed Lyra. I went to go throw away the dirty diaper when I heard footsteps and then a gun click

"What the hell are you doing in our house?" I heard Carl asked. I threw away the diaper and the walked out of Judith's room with my gun raised. There was a man with long hair. Carl had his gun aimed at him as he sat on the stairs. Carl gave me a quick look and then went back to looking at the man

"I'm, uh, sitting on the steps looking at this painting, waiting for your mom and dad to get dressed. Hi.. I'm Jesus" He said. A door opened. Me and Carl both turned to see Rick and Michonne half dressed. Rick was putting on his pants. My mouth turned into a 'O' shape

"Carl, hey, um.." Rick began. We heard the door open. Daryl, Abraham, Maggie and Glenn came up the stairs with their guns raised at Jesus

"It's- It's okay" Michonne said

"You said we should talk. So let's talk" Rick said. We all lowered our guns and walked into the dining room. Jesus, Rick, Michonne, Carl, Glenn and Maggie sat down. Me, Daryl and Abraham stood

"So, how'd you get out?" Rick asked

"One guard can't cover two exits or third floor windows. Knots untie and locks get picked. Entropy comes from order, right?" Jesus asked

"Right" Daryl said

"I checked out your arsenal. I haven't seen anything like that in a long time. You're well-equipped, but your provisions are low. Very low for the amount of people you have. 54?" Jesus asked

"More" Maggie said

"Well, I appreciate the cookie. My compliments to the chef" Jesus said

"Yeah, she ain't here" Daryl said

"Look, we got off to a bad start. But we're on the same side- the living side. You and Rick had every reason to leave me out there, but you didn't. I'm from a place that's a lot like this one. Part of my job is searching out other settlements to trade with. I took your truck because my community needs things, and both of you looked like trouble. I was wrong. You're good people. And this is a good place. I think our communities may be in a position to help each other" Jesus said

"Do you have food?" I asked

"We've started to raise livestock. We scavenge, we grow. Everything from tomatoes to sorghum" Jesus said
