Next day- Gabby POV
Time for the big meeting, some nurses I didn't really know came to get me ready because everyone was already at the meeting. These 2 are not good at moving me, getting dressed is uncomfortable, then they lift me weirdly which hurts and makes my muscles spasm and I don't sit nicely in my chair. I don't say anything because I don't want them to pick me up again. It's not their fault they don't know what to do, I'm probably the most complex patient on this floor, most people are just being monitored for concussions or stuff like that. One of them starts bringing me out of the room
Gabby- wait I -eed bales. Ba-es
Ugh! Why is this so hard to say
Gabby(📱)- braces. I need my braces
Nurse- oh, where are they?
I try to point to them, I get the right general direction and the nurse spots them. She starts trying to put them on me but it's not going well
Gabby- jus- bring -em
I have to repeat a few times before she understands. Talking to other people reminds me how bad I am at it.
Nurse- ok, ready to go now?
Gabby- ya

She brings me to a conference room. Everyone is there, dr Abrams, dr Rhodes, Nat, Kate, Liam(he doesn't even work with me much anymore), Janet, Lisa, Maggie and April. Half of them can tell I'm sitting weird just by looking at me, Nat comes over and adjusts me so I'm sitting properly.
Gabby- thanks
Nat- no problem
She brings next to where she was sitting and starts putting my braces on

Dr Rhodes- so everything looks good with your g-tube and you've recovered well from all your surgeries. Trach also looks good, I want to a scope of your airway still but if that looks good we'll try capping the trach to see if it can be removed soon.
Gabby- wha?
Dr Rhodes- you haven't needed a vent since you recovered from pneumonia, the main reason for the trach was that you needed to be on a vent all the time, we'll see how everything goes
Gabby- ok

Dr Abrams- CT and MRI look fine, obviously there's damage but no signs of anything new going wrong. Your seizures are more controlled with medication now and usually stop on their own and if not the rescue medication works. I'll keep monitoring them but you're doing well. We've all been over your results and been talking and we think you can be discharged soon
Gabby- wha! Leave hopi-lal?
That word is really hard
Kate- that's what we need to talk about. The original plan was to go from here to rehab but we're having a hard time finding a rehab place to take you.
Janet- so, obviously we'd need to do a lot of planning, but what do you think of going home and continuing to come here everyday for therapy instead of rehab?
Gabby(📱)- where. How I can't, I need help with everything
I'm excited but also terrified, I can't go home, I can't even sit! Also where is home? I can't go to the apartment Tonio got, it's way too small, my chair wouldn't fit. Nat notices that I'm starting to freak out.
Nat- Gabby, look at me. It will be fine, we're all here to help you figure out how it will work.
She holds my hand and talks to me and I start to calm down.
Nat- it will take a few weeks to figure it out, this isn't something that's happened immediately.
Janet- so we'll figure out where you're going then I'll go see what needs to be changed and what equipment you'll need.
Dr Abrams- and you can't be alone so we need to figure that out, you'll probably qualify for home nursing or PSW hours.
I don't want random people looking after me but I know I need help. I hate this
Nat- it's ok, we'll talk about it more, we'll figure out a plan. Another thing we need to do is training people on all your care. Antonio and whoever else you want, we can start that soon.

Antonio and Matt both joined the meeting and we all discussed the plan together. Eventually, with a lot of reassurance from Matt, we decided I would live at his new house because it was a much better set up for me and so Shay could live with both her parents. Antonio would also move in there to help me for as long as I needed. We planned to go see the house with Janet the next day so that renovations could get started. Finally the meeting's over which is good because I'm getting really overwhelmed. A bunch of people leave but no one's bringing me back to my room yet.

Antonio- hey Gabby, I know this has been a lot but I got you something a while ago and it's ready.
Gabby- wha get?
Antonio- finally got you a new phone since yours was wrecked
Gabby- thanks but how I use it
Janet- I've set it up so you can use it with switches. Let's go to your room to get your tray and you can try it out
Gabby- ok

Janet sets it up and shows me how it works, one switch moves to the next option and the other selects and I can also use Siri or speech to text using the eye gaze. Tonio and Janet both had to leave so I got to check out the phone, Tonio had put everyone's contacts in for me already so I started texting people to tell them I had a phone again and also asked Stella, Brett and Severide if they wanted "Gabby-sitting training" then explained that Nat would train people on all my care and everything that could possibly go wrong and how to handle it. All three of them wanted to which makes it 5 people, Matt wants to learn everything as well. Next I text Maya
G- "hi its Gabby I finally got a new phone and my OT set it up so I can use it myself. How's work been?"
M- "hi that's awesome! Work's good but I miss actually going on calls"
We texted for a while and talked about me being discharged then I kept exploring my phone until it was time for PT.
