Almost at once, the two Ameythysts tensed up upon hearing a very terse voice call from behind them.
You snapped your head up in the direction of the said voice and tensed up at the sight of a large periwinkle blue gem, with pale lavender hair styled into two pointed side buns that are white, violet, and lavender, respectively.
She wore a navy blue top with a high collar cloaked in a blue shawl with a darker blue collar-like pattern, complete with a blue diamond symbol in the center of her chest.
Her violet eyes were focused on the two Ameythysts with a palpable distaste as she walked up to them, in which they immediately greeted her with the diamond salute.
"The recruit has arrived, Holly Blue Agate." Answered the Amethyst in a hurried manner, to which the Agate gem looks over to you. You quickly repeated the diamond salute and bowed your head slightly. "H-Holly blue agate." You uttered politely.
The look of disgust deepened on the burly gem's face as she looks you over. "Oh... so those rumors were true. Lovely." Holly sighed, rolling her eyes. "Anyhow, I'll take it from here, now." She makes a shooing motion with her hand toward the yellow pearl. "That will be all."
A sour look flickered across the pearl's face, but she bows with the diamond salute and sets her hand on your shoulder. "I'll be back to collect you in a few hours. Do continue to behave yourself." With that, you watched as the pearl made her way back to the ship, repressing the urge to whine when you saw her disappear into the ship and watch it rise from its spot and zip out of the hangar door. Despite yourself, you found yourself already missing the pearl.
She was mildly uptight, but you couldn't help but feel uncomfortable without her by your side.
You then felt a hand gently pet your head. Specifically a gentle scritching behind your horn. It was sudden, but it was a very pleasant sensation.
You couldn't stop a purr from escaping you. Absentmindedly, you leaned into the hand, before turning to see that it belonged to of the Ameythysts, who now wore an adorably dopey grin on her face. "Haha, I think she likes this." She mutters to her fellow Amethyst, who reaches over to scratch you behind your other horn, causing your purr to raise in volume. "Cool..." they sounded as if they were in awe just by the sight of you.
You let yourself smile at the attention from the curious earth-created gems, tail wagging slightly in a sense of ease.
Were all gems from Blue Diamond's Court secretly civil?
"That will be enough!"
You flinched as the hands that were petting you were roughly slapped away by the imposing agate gem. "We can't have it get too comfortable here, lest I want it to be as useless as the rest of you are!" She growls, before gripping your horn and roughly pulling you towards her. "The two of you, make yourselves useful and keep guard while I try to get this thing acquainted with everything."
...I guess not.
"Yes, Holly!" The Amethyst replied in unison, returning to their position at either side of the hexagonal door. Holly stared hard at them for a moment, then focused her attention on you, eyes narrowing further. "As for you... I assume you can still comprehend common tongue, yes?"
You responded with a firm nod and hum, to which she purses her lips in vague approval as she releases her grip on you. "Excellent. Now, come with me. I'll be showing you your workspace." With a gesture of her hand, she turns and walks further into the establishment, to which you quickly trotted after her.
As you did, you caught one final input from the two purple guards at the door.
"Aw, man... I feel sorry for the rookie..."
"I just hope Holly goes easy on her, at least."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~"So, as you've hopefully heard; This facility originally belonged to Pink Diamond," Holly explains, her voice void of enthusiasm. "And the, otherwise useless, Quartz that she produced, as well as what was her colony, are housed here." She then cast a contemptuous gaze down at you, who silently trotted beside her.
Pink diamond... Colony... Quartzes...
You were barely listening to the Agate as you were trying to piece together the few words that stuck out to you, in hopes of trying to find at least a clue to your past.
Or at the very least try to figure out what you knew about pink diamond and why she was familiar to you. But so far, all's you've got is her name and downfall. It's almost as if there was a barrier keeping you from going any further...
"AHEM!"
You flinched at a sharp jab in your head, and you snapped your head up at Holly Blue, who appeared more irritated than before. "Are you even paying attention??"
"S-sorry." You uttered sheepishly, tensing up at her sharp glare. "Was just... lost in thought."
Holly scoffs impatiently. "What thoughts could possibly run through that primitive mindset of yours?"
You tried to form some kind of answer, but the intense stare from the looming agate made any forms of defenses die on your tongue, and you were just left sputtering unintelligibly. "Well... duh... uhm... uh..."
Holly huffed in exasperation at this, rolling her eyes in disinterest as she started muttering to herself. "Honestly. Blue Diamond's mercy knows absolutely no bounds..."
You finally gave up on trying to speak, and just walked beside her with your head hung low, trying to swallow the tightness that had formed in your throat from shame. "...Sorry."
A period of silence comes over you both as you continued down the halls, to which Holly seemed to have taken notice of this and hummed. "Well... At least you seem to know your place." She noted, sparing you a side glance out of the corner of your eye, her lip curling into a smirk at how you humble you looked at the moment. "Surprisingly quiet and cooperative as well."
You just remained silent. Probably best if you didn't speak anyway. Wouldn't want to ruin her mood at the moment. She hummed softly at your silence, shaking her head lightly as she muttered to herself. "A promising sign..."
She releases a heavy sigh. "Nevertheless, the duties for you here are simple, even for someone of your condition." She continues. "All's you're going to be doing is keeping guard of the zoo and making sure those earthly creatures stay in line. It's so simple that even those Ameythysts can manage." She stops suddenly, which makes you look up at her quizzically. You repressed a flinch at the stern glare she gave you. "Surely you know how to handle a human?"
You stared for a moment, opening your mouth.
But you were cut off by an urgent voice down the hall.
"THERE'S A HUMAN ON THE LOOSE!"
~~~~~~~~~~~I made Holly a bit cruel here, but come on she seems so angry at everything on that zoo floor-
