"That's it... deep breaths."

To your delight, the child's trembling had completely subsided. The look of fear they had softened, and now they had a look of mild worry. After a few minutes, they finally relaxed themselves. "There we go..." you smiled. "Now... would you mind coming closer..?"

The child hesitated. "P'omise you won't hurt me?" They asked shyly. The subtle lisp in the young voice, and you felt something inside you twist at how tiny it sounded. "(Name) promises." You assured, beckoning them forward with your paw. Their eyes scanned your face for a moment before they slowly started to crawl towards you, slowly and cautiously, while you simply laid there, not moving an inch to not alert the child.

The gems behind you watched with surprise as the child crawled out from the cubby hole, until they were about right in front of your chest.

"It's actually working!"

"How is she doing that?"

"Is this a trick?"

"Is she gonna eat it?"

"Now..." you started gently, ignoring the faint mutterings around you. "Why did little human leave the zoo?"

The small child looked down and started to fiddle with their fingers. "I.. I don't like it there..." they muttered. "Is boring; we do the same things over all day, every day..." They crossed their arms into a pout. Something that you found oddly adorable. "And we always gave to listen to these stupid earring thingies," the holds out a hand, revealing two exotic purple earrings. You tilted your head. "Listen to the earrings?" The child nodded. "They have this voice that tell us what to do all the time... but... but I don't wanna do everything it tells me to do!" In a burst of frustration, they threw the accessory into the ground, causing them to flash an intimidating shade of red. "I got angry at them and took them out... but when I did, they turned that color and those big purple ladies came in," they pointed to the two Ameythysts behind you, who smiled sheepishly and shrugged when you looked at them. "And I panicked so I ran out..."

"Ah... (name) sees." You muttered. "(Name) understands human child's troubles." The child's eyes went wide in surprise. "R-really?" You nodded. "Not everyone likes being told what to do. Sometimes they'll want to do something to their own accord. Is that the issue?" The child's face lit up a bit as they nodded their head enthusiastically. You smiled warmly at the enthusiasm. "Yeah. (Name) doesn't like being told what to do either. (Name) likes to do things on her own accord to. From rolling in the grass, sniffing flowers, watching the stars..." you felt a dull pain in your chest as you thought back to your old home planet. Boy did you miss being free of all the stressful training and keeping in the line of the empires strict guidelines...

You were brought back to attention by two small hands pressing into your chest. You looked down and was surprised to find two dark brown eyes staring up at you with a twinkle of excitement. "Really?!" You repressed a flinch at the abrupt raise in volume of his voice. "I like all of that to!"

"I like all of that to!"
