Chapter 18: Sooner Than Later

I stared out the window, just as I usually did when ever I was bored, and I was not all too sure as to just what it was that I should even be doing in the very first place any ways, all at the exact same time too. I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden stared at some of the cars that were flying past the high way, all at the exact same time too.
It seemed to calm my down for some odd reason or another, though the more that I thought in to it, it kind of got me angry. The cars seemed to be going so fast, which was some thing that I was not all too good at doing any more, all at the exact same time too. I had been in here for a few months now, it felt like, and I was tired of it, all at the exact same time as well.
I knew that for one thing, it was going to cost my mother a ton of money, all at the exact same time too, but also the fact that I was just so bored, and I did not want to be in this place any longer, either, all at the exact same time as well. I felt like, I could just use my phone, and that I could perhaps down load a game, and play a game on there, as for all that I knew, I could get good at that.
I knew that football, at this point, the more that I began to continue to realize just how serious my injury was in the very first place any ways, was not going to be a thing in my life any more, all at the exact same time as well. My father had kind of just given up on the fact at this point, that he had been trying to get me on my game with my school work for a while. I hadn't done any at this point, and we were nearly half way through the semester too.
It was too late to come back from all of that, as I knew that I had lost all of my scholarships to all of those schools, that had been Ivy League schools none the less, as well. I really did not care all too much how ever, as I just wanted to kind of give up on every thing at this point, as it felt like nothing could go right for me at this point.
The doctors and the nurses in the hospital kept telling me 'you have your whole life ahead of you! You are still young! There are plenty of other things that you can do!' They would always say to me. They just did not under stand how I had such a passion for the sport of football, and how much I really loved it, all at the exact same time too, as I knew that it was the most important thing, and it was my most favorite thing to do in the world.
It killed me to know that it was some thing that I was not going to be able to do any more, as it just seemed to shut down all of my hopes and dreams that I had even had, as I had always hoped that I would go get to play with the Cardinals, and that I would be able to play with a now well experienced Kyler Murray, all at the exact same time too, when I got to the point, as I receiver, all at the exact same time as well.
Sure, you might say, that I could play some other positions, right? No... I can't play kicker or punter, my legs are shot up at this point... I cant play anything on the defensive side, as corner is just as hard as being a receiver is for one thing, none the less. Also the fact that I also knew that I could not play LB, as I knew that I would not be fast another any more, all at the exact same time as well.
I for sure could not play a linemen, as I knew that I was no where near big enough, and I was no where near bulky enough to do as such a thing, all at the exact same time too. I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at the exact same time as well, as I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of those thoughts, all at once, as I felt it best not to think on any thing that had to do with sports right now.
What else was there to think on though? Football was in fact my life, like it or not, all at the exact same time too. Sure... I could have done my school work, and I could have go become a nurse or some thing else at some Ivy League school... That just seemed to be boring to me how ever, as it just got on my nerves to even think on things like that, all at the exact same time too, as I so badly wanted to punch some thing right now, none the less.
I did my best to try to keep my self calm, all at the exact same time too, as I knew that there were a bunch of kids in this room with me right now, and I did not need to go in to an out burst around all of those kids, all at the exact same time too, as I knew that it would scare the hell out of them for one thing, as, as much as I too was still technically called a kid, none the less... I knew that I was 6 feet tall, and I looked like a man at this point.
I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I then all of the sudden winced a bit for some odd reason or another, as I then shook my head, and decided that it was late enough as it was right now, as I could clearly see that the sun was about to go down in the sky, that I may as well just head over to the room that I was staying in right now, and that I may as well get some sleep for the night, all at the exact same time too.
I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at once, as I then began to start to roll around with my wheel chair, out of the room that I could see a few children playing in right now, as I saw a few parents give me some ugly looks as if they thought that I was going to attack their kid, just do to the fact that I was a big and I was a strong guy, as much as I felt like I really was not what so ever right at this very moment in time too.
I looked away from all of them, all at once, as I then just kept on going, all at the exact same time too, over to where it was that I even needed to be heading over to in the very first place any ways, which was of course the fact that I knew that I needed to go to the front desk in the other room, so that I could get some help, to get on to my bed, all at the exact same time too, as I took my wheel chair, and I headed out of the room that I had been sitting in just a few moments before hand, all at the exact same time too.
I blinked my eyes a few times, all at once, as I then got right over to the front desk, all at the exact same time as well, as I saw that neither one of the nurses seemed to be paying me any sort of attention right at this very moment in time either, as I saw that one of the nurses was on his phone, right at this very moment in time too, and that the other nurse was sorting through some of her paper work, all at the exact same time as well.
I did my best to try to keep my self as calm as I possibly could, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden breathed in quite a bit heavily to my self, all at once. Not all too much longer after all of that, I then let out a very loud cough, all at the exact same time too, to get the attention of the nurses on to me, all at the exact same time too, never the less, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, and get my mind off of all of those other thoughts, all at once.
The main lady, who was seeming to sort out all of the paper work, then all of the sudden lifted her head up, all at the exact same time too, to see as to just who it was that had let out the loud cough to clearly get her attention on to them, all at the exact same time too, as she seemed to be a little bit lost at first, until she then all of the sudden looked down and she saw me there, on me wheel chair, all at the exact same time as well.
The lady blinked her eyes a few times, at first, as if she was a little bit lost by just what it was that was even going on at first, but in the end, she did in fact nod right back over to me, all at the exact same time too, to let me know that she was in fact about to speak to me, all at the exact same time as well, none the less, as if I was not the one that was trying to get her attention on to me, all at the exact same time as well, never the less.
I blinked my eyes a few times this time, in the end, to let her know that I was in fact paying attention as to just what it was that she even had to say to me in the very first place any ways, all at the exact same time as well. I could tell that it did in fact make the lady feel a little bit better, all at the exact same time too, as she then cracked a bit of a smile on her face, which I was not nearly as amused for, as she then all of the sudden did in fact begin to start to speak to me, all at the exact same time too, as I did in fact begin to start to listen as to just what it was that she even had to say to me in the very first place any ways, none the less.
"Hello Grant! What do you need help with this evening?" She asked me, all at the exact same time too, as I breathed in quite a bit softly to my self this time, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at the exact same time too, as I was a little bit lost as to just how it was that she did not know that I was clearly just trying to get some help to get in to my bed at this point, all at the exact same time too, as she had been here with me long enough to know that it was the only reason that I came up to the front of this place, all at the exact same time too.
I stared at the lady with a bit of a blank look on my face for just a few moments, as I just kind of felt empty in side right now, all at the exact same time too, as I kind of felt like I was a little bit of a pussy for the fact that I even needed help to get in to my bed in the very first place any ways, all at the exact same time as well, never the less, all at the exact same time too, as I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of the other thoughts that I had been thinking on before hand.
I blinked my eyes a few times, all at once, as I was not all too sure as to just what it was that was even going on in the very first place any ways, all at the exact same time too. I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of the other thoughts that my mind had even been on in the very first place any ways, as I then all of the sudden felt a bit of some buzzing come from my phone for some reason, all at the exact same time too.
It was clear to me that some one was texting me right now, all at the exact same time too, which I was a little bit lost by, as I knew that I usually had my notifications turned of for most people, unless it was my mother and my father, all at the exact same time too, never the less. I felt like it was an important message if I had to guess, all at the exact same time too, but I knew that now was not the time to really be worrying about all of that what so ever right now, in the very first place any ways, none the less.
Maybe I would check my phone when ever it was that I was to get in to my bed, all at the exact same time too, though I kind of felt like I was lying to my self on that, all at the exact same time too, as I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of the other thoughts that I had been thinking on before. I felt like I would forget about it, just as I kind of already had, for one thing, and if I did in fact remember about it, I was not all too sure if I did in fact want to check it in the very first place any ways, none the less.
Kimberly had still yet to text me, and I was in quite a bit of some pain due to that, all at the exact same time as well, as I knew that there was no way that she was too busy for the fact that she would not at least check in on me every now and again, all at the exact same time too. I was kind of over it at this point, if I was not going to lie to my self, all at the exact same time too, as then got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of that, once again.
I saw that the nurse was staring at me with a bit of a confused look on her face, right in front of me, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden began to start to realize, all at the exact same time too, that I had in fact just been staring at her with quite a bit of a blank look on my face for quite a bit of some time, all at the exact same time too, as I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of those thoughts, once again.
I just then all of the sudden began to start to remember, all at the exact same time too, as to just why it was that I was here at this place in the very first place any ways, all at the exact same time as well, as I then all of the sudden blinked my eyes a few times at the lady, as I then all of the sudden, all at the exact same time too, did in fact nod to the lady, all at the exact same time too, to let her know that I was about to speak to her finally, and let her know as to just why it was that I was even here in the very first place any ways, never the less.
The lady blinked her eyes a few times right back at me, all at the exact same time too, as it was clear that she was a little bit lost as to just what it was going on right now still, for some odd reason or another. In the end how ever, she did in fact nod right back over to me, to let me know that she was in fact paying attention as to just what it was that I even had to say to her at the very least, all at the exact same time too.
Not all too much longer after I saw her do as such a thing like that, all at the exact same time as well, I did in fact go on ahead and begin to start to speak to her, all at the exact same time too, now that I knew that she was in fact listening as to just what it was that I even had to say to her in the very first place any ways, never the less.
"I'm ready to go to sleep... I need help getting in to bed..." I said to the lady, as she continued to stare at me with a bit of a blank look on her face, almost as if she was telling me that I should go and do it my self, all at the exact same time too, as if almost like she did not know as to just how serious my injuries were in the very first place any ways, all at the exact same time too. I was still a little bit scared if I was not ever going to be able to run, much less walk again, if I was not going to lie to my self either way.
I blinked my eyes a few times, once again, as after a little bit longer, the lady seemed to all of the sudden wake her self up to just what it was that I had even said to her in the very first place any ways, all at the exact same time as well, as I then all of the sudden saw her nod to me once again, as she then all of the sudden began to lift her self up from off of the chair that she had been sitting on long before now, all at the exact same time too.
I then all of the sudden got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of those thoughts, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden saw that the lady was in fact beginning to start to come with me over to the room that I always stayed in, thankfully enough, all at the exact same time too, as I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, and I then all of the sudden began to start to roll my wheel chair, all at the exact same time too, over to just where it was that I even needed to be in the very first place any ways.
I nodded a bit to my self, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden began to start to head in to the room that I stayed in every night, that was not all too far away from me, all at the exact same time as well, as I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of the other thoughts that I had been thinking on before, all at the exact same time as well, as I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, all at the exact same time as well.
I then all of the sudden stopped my self, right at the bed side, all at the exact same time too, as I waited for the lady to help lift me up on to the bed, all at the exact same time too. How ever, the lady seemed to be staring at me with a little bit of a blank look on her face for just a bit of some time, all at the exact same time too, which did in fact confuse me quite a bit, if I was not going to lie to my self either, as I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at the exact same time too, as I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of those other thoughts, all at once.
The lady just seemed to stare at me for a little bit longer, for some odd reason or another, until she then all of the sudden did in fact nod to me, all at the exact same time too, as it was clear to me that she was letting me know that she was about to go on ahead and speak to me, all at the exact same time as well, all at once. I still was a little bit lost by it, if I was not going to lie to my self either.
How ever, I did in fact nod back to her, all at the exact same time too, to let her know that I was in fact paying attention to her, and what ever it was that she even had to say to me, all at the exact same time too. I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I did my best to calm my self down, all at the exact same time too, as I then did in fact begin to start to listen as to just what it was that she even had to say to me in the very first place any ways, once it was that she did in fact finally decide that she was going to go on ahead and speak to me.
"How about you try to lift your self up on to the bed this time..." She said to me, as she had a bit of a blank look on her face, all at the exact same time as well, as if she did not realize what so ever, just how hard it even was for me to lift my self off of the bed, and on to the wheel chair in the morning, all at the exact same time as well. Though, I suppose, that if I had to guess, as I felt like I could not blame her for it, all at the exact same time too, was the fact that she had never been in the state that I had been in, in her life, either, all at the exact same time as well. I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at the exact same time too, as I just seemed to stare at the lady for just a few moments. The lady seemed to notice the look that was on my face, all at the exact same time as well, as she then all of the sudden began to quickly continue to speak up to me once again, all at the exact same time too, as I did in fact begin to start to listen as to just what it was that she even had to say to me once again, with a bit of a blank look on my face, as I tried not to get angry with the nurse, all at the exact same time too, as I did in fact begin to listen as to just what it was that she even had to say in the very first place any ways, once again. "Look Grant... If you don't work with me, how are we ever going to get you out of here? You have to at least try at some point kid..."
I looked at the lady for just a little bit longer, after just what it was that she had even said to me in the very first place any ways, as I was actually not upset with what it was that she had even said to me in the very first place any ways, what so ever, all at the exact same time too, as I knew that she had a bit of a fair point on what it was that she had even told me in the very first place any ways, all at the exact same time as well.
I blinked my eyes a few times, all at the exact same time too, as I kind of felt like I just wanted to wallow in my misery in this hospital for a little bit longer, all at the exact same time too. But at the exact same time as well, I also knew that the lady had a bit of a fair point, all at the exact same time too, as to just what it was that she had even said to me in the very first place any ways, never the less, as I got my mind, and I got my focus on the fact that I knew that I could not live here.
I knew that at some point I had to get my self back to real life, and I had to bring my self back to all that I had lost in the very first place any ways, all at the exact same time too. I blinked my eyes a few times, all at once, as I got my mind, and I got my focus on to all of that, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden nodded to the nurse, all at the exact same time as well, all at once, to let her know at the very least, that I was at least willing to try to lift my self up, and on to the bed, all at the exact same time as well.
Though, if I was not going to lie to my self either, the thought of trying to stand on my own 2 legs, and my own 2 feet, was kind of scary to me, all at the exact same time too, as I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden did in fact begin to start to lift my self up and off of the wheel chair, all at the exact same time too, as I knew that I needed to be strong for my self right now.
I groaned quite a bit, as I wobbled a bit at first, all at the exact same time too, as I knew that my muscles were very weak right now, as I knew that they were not used to any of that what so ever, all at the exact same time too, as I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of the other thoughts that I had been thinking on before hand, all at the exact same time as well, as I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, once again.
I then all of the sudden stood up straight, with out any help, all at the exact same time too, as I was not all too sure as to just what it was that I should do next, all at the exact same time as well, until the lady then all of the sudden nodded over towards the bed that was in front of me, all at the exact same time too, to let me know that was where it was that I needed to be at right now, as that was after all the whole reason that I had been trying to do all of this in the very first place any ways, so that I could go on ahead and get in to my bed for the night.
I really was not all too tired, if I was not going to lie to my self, but I really did not care all too much either, as I had some how managed to get in to a little bit of a process where it was that I was able to fall asleep quite a bit easily, all at the exact same time as well, with out being tired what so ever, all at the exact same time too. At least that was one thing I was good at, as I got my mind, and I got my focus off of all of that, all at the exact same time too.
I then all of the sudden let out quite a bit of a heavy groan, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden began to start to lift my self up on to the bed, all at the exact same time too, as I felt quite a bit of some help from the nurse, from right behind me, all at the exact same time too, which I was in fact grateful for, as I then all of the sudden began to start to get my self up on to the bed, all at the exact same time too.
I then all of the sudden began to start to lift the blanket over on top of me, all at the exact same time as well, so that I was able to get my self in to a bit of a cozy spot, all at the exact same time as well, none the less, once again. I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at the exact same time too, as I saw that the lady put her thumbs up, to make sure that I was okay, all at the exact same time too, none the less.
I was about to do the same thing back to her, to let her know that she was safe to go on ahead and get back to what it was that she had been doing before hand, all at the exact same time as well, never the less. I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at the exact same time too, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at the exact same time as well, as I knew that I had a question to ask her before it was that she was to leave, none the less.
I then all of the sudden nodded to the lady, all at once, to let her know that I was in fact about to speak to her, all at the exact same time too, as she did in fact nod right back over to me, all at the exact same time too. I blinked my eyes a few times, as it was clear that she was thankfully letting me know that she was in fact paying attention to me, all at the exact same time too. I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I then all of the sudden began to start to speak to her, now that I knew that she was in fact listening as to just what it was that I even had to say to her in the very first place any ways, never the less.
"When do you think I am going to get out of here ma'am?" I asked her, all at the exact same time too, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at the exact same time as well, never the less, as I knew that I should not be freaking out to much. I had to guess that it was going to be a very long time, due to the fact that I was not even walking just yet, all at the exact same time as well.
I groaned a bit to my self, all at the exact same time too, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden saw that the lady seemed to be paying me no such sort of attention any longer, all at the exact same time as well, which did in fact upset me a bit, all at the exact same time as well, as I stared at the lady right in to her eyes, as I saw that she was now staring at her phone, all at the exact same time too, just as the other nurse had been doing at the front desk.
It did in fact make me quite a bit angry, all at the exact same time too, as at first, I had thought that she was not doing her job, and she was ignoring the question that I had just asked her, all at the exact same time too, until I then all of the sudden heard the lady let out a loud and quite a bit of a heavy sigh, all at the exact same time as well, as it was clear to me, all of the sudden, that there must be some sort of schedule that they had set up for her on her phone, all at the exact same time too.
It started to give me quite a bit of some hope, if I was not going to lie to my self either, as I began to start to roll around a bit in the bed I was in all of the sudden, all at the exact same time too, as it began to kind of get me a little bit excited, as to the thought on the fact that it might mean that I might be able to get out of this hospital soon, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden cracked a bit of a smile on my face, all at the exact same time as well, never the less.
I looked out the window for a few moments, as I stared at the cars that were driving down the high way, all at the exact same time too, as this time, I was a bit happy to look at those cars, all at the exact same time too. I was going to give the lady some time for the schedule to load up, but if she felt like I was on the schedule to leave soon, than it meant that I was going to be up and out of here, which did in fact make me feel quite a bit better, all at the exact same time too.
I blinked my eyes a few times, all at once, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden got my mind, and my focus off of all of those other thoughts, all at once, as I then all of the sudden did in fact begin to start to hear the voice of the nurse finally begin to start to speak to me, all at the exact same time too, as I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, and I then all of the sudden turned my head over to her, all at the exact same time too.
The lady seemed to have a bit of a sad look on her face at first, which did in fact make me feel a bit down about all of this, as I felt like the answer was going to be some thing along the lines of not any time soon, or for all that I knew, I might not be out of this hospital til the end of this year, all at the exact same time too, as I breathed in quite a bit to my self, all at once, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, as I then all of the sudden saw the lady nod to me, to let me know that she was in fact about to go on ahead and speak to me, all at the exact same time too, never the less.
I blinked my eyes a few times at first, as in the end, I did in fact nod right back over to her, all at the exact same time too, to let her know that I was in fact listening to her, though based off of the look that she had on her face, I was kind of running out of hope, all at the exact same time too. Eventually, I got my mind, and my focus off of that, as the lady did in fact go on ahead and begin to speak to me, all at the exact same time too, as I did in fact listen as to just what it was that she even had to say to me in the very first place any ways, none the less.
"You aren't on the schedule to leave yet..." She said to me, as all of my hopes seemed to just go crashing down to the floor, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden lowered my head straight down to the ground, all at the exact same time too, as I did my best to try to calm my self down, all at the exact same time too, as I then all of the sudden just stared down at the ground, all at once, as I was in fact quite a bit disappointed as to just what it was that she had even said to me in the very first place any ways. As I let out a heavy sigh to my self, all at once. The lady could tell that it did in fact make me feel a bit down about all of it, all at the exact same time too, as she continued to speak to me, once again, though I did not lift my head up this time how ever, as I did in fact listen as to just what it was that she even had to say to me, once again. "Though... If you keep it up, and show progress like you just did... It'll be sooner than later..."
