(Third-Person POV)

Berlin, Germany

2019.

Early in the morning, Lori awoke. It was still dark outside, and barely bright enough for her to see. She was unsure of where she was for a second, before remembering the events of the previous day. She sighed. So I guess this is happening. Still hard to believe. She thought. Lori carefully climbed out of bed and made her way over to the bathroom, grabbing the bag of things on her way. She locked the door and turned on the light, keeping quiet as to not distract the others. She found, though, that the file folder she was looking for was missing. Assuming one of the others had it, she left the bathroom and placed the bag where it had been before, walking over to the small cubby where the hotel room kept snacks. Lori grabbed a bag of chips (or do they call them crisps? :) ) and headed back to her bunk. She had no idea what they'd do today, would they begin these "missions" or try to understand their situation? Lori knew which she would choose, but the rest of the group might not agree. She knew most of them would probably want to do something. She thought this would require a lot of planning. Although, she was reluctant to believe that people were eager to move on from their past-Lori wasn't sure what she thought. It was her dream to travel to the past, but she had no idea of what she'd lose. Well, now she did. Lori wanted to go home now; to see her friends and go back to the way the world was. But that was as impossible as this all being a dream. Lori sighed, leaning back against her pillow, and stared at the bottom of the bunk above her, letting her mind worry while she drifted back into sleep.

The others woke up shortly after Lori fell asleep, some still dozing while others were wide awake. When everyone was finally awake, it was almost noon. The six kids met up in one room, attempting to decide on what to do now that they realized their situation wasn't a dream.

"We should...I don't know! Figure out how to contact the others in the United States and tell them to kill that lady who sent us here! Maybe, maybe it will break something and we'll all be able to go home!" Sage suggested, pausing suddenly. "Right, who wants to go home." Sighing, Sage turned to stare out the window, and into the city.

"I suppose, since the past isn't our territory, we'd best believe what Wolf said. It's probably our only way to survive." Marco put in. Some of the others nodded, but a few didn't agree, instead of arguing that they should be questioning whether this was real or not. Lori couldn't possibly disagree with either side; they were both right in their ways. The group decided to simply look through their bags again, and try to see if there were any clues as to why it had to be them (other than the letter, of course). After hours, they'd found nothing about why they were here, but they had discovered why they'd been chosen. See, the government in the future was looking for smart young people, of course, smart for their time, which translated to average now (except in some very rare cases). However, they had worked to find these twelve; of course, split into groups of six. They'd each been given jobs based on what they were good at. Nobody knew, though, how the government was able to find out what they were good at since the skills they needed for this, well, it was much different from what they did daily. Aside from that, Lori had assumed the role of leader, which she of course, already had. Some of the others had taken other roles, Marco being good at some of the written sciences and math, which was very helpful for the crew. Stefan was like the mechanic of the group, doubling as a technology expert; he could fix a lot of things from the future (though, it wasn't very helpful in the past). Luna, well, the only thing she was good at was stealing and lying. Sage was good at forgery. All the others seemed to have tools carefully picked out for them to make their specialties even easier to use. By that afternoon, the group had finally decided to set out on their journey, partially because if they spent any more time at that hotel, they'd be broke by the end of the next day. So, the six set out across Berlin, now searching for their first contact. Lori thought she saw a flash of silver streak across her vision, maybe the voice of a person she'd never met before, then the world returned to the way it was previously. She shook it off and the group continued on, off into the streets of the German capital city.

A/N-Holy shit I'm so sorry for not updating in two months :l

I thought I updated at the beginning of November omfg

Now I feel really bad about that :'(

Anyway, enough emoticons, hope y'all enjoyed this chapter. As y'all can see, I've been taking very long breaks, tbh I think taking time out of my day to do this will help me get my life a little more organized since that's really not what it is right now. I've joined too many school clubs and my schedule was super packed thru November!

God, let's just put it this way: Author was busy and Author was lazy

lmao I'm sorry guys :)

I will try to update more, but again, it's super hard to have to write more chapter fillers before I can get to the good parts of the story. So it's a big struggle for me to write these and enjoy them, however, once things begin to pick up (which should happen in 1-2 more chapters-rushing it a little bit tho-) then I should be able to update more.

Does anyone else here downhill ski? I'm so excited to start skiing soon, of course, we have to wait until there's a good week where it's not warm (thanks, December, what a great winter) but I'm still super excited and well, yeah, excited.

Recently started reading '1984'  and it is so good! I love dystopian novels because they're so interesting! Especially to think back in history and wonder what would happen if , for example, the Allies didn't win WWII? That's kind of the whole theme of  'The Man in The High Castle,' which is my absolute favorite show (except the last season, didn't like that very much) and the book is pretty good so far!

Anyway, I should stop bothering y'all about dystopian novels. Hope y'all enjoyed the chapter and see y'all next time!

Have a great day/night!

--Laura S.

P.S, for those interested, '1984' was written by George Orwell and 'The Man in The High Castle' was written by Phillip K. Dick

Anyway, bye! :)
