║commence, dungeon disaster!
━━━ (CHAPTER SIXTEEN)

DUNGEONS WERE TYPICALLY KNOWN AS
underground cells meant to harbour prisoners who've committed the dirtiest of crimes and the grimiest of sins. However, this was not the case for the once-in-a-blue-moon oubliettes emerging from underground across the depths of forestry around the kingdoms.

In the present, they are best known for concealing silver treasures in golden chambers, bronze chalices filled to the brim with metallic jewellery capable of unimaginable possibilities to do with mana. A ruby necklace could increase the output of magic spells when cast; an opal ring could manipulate one's mana to make themselves appear youthful again. Point given, the expansion of mana capabilities were endless.

On the other hand, dungeons were not always known for hiding their bijouterie in moss-stone walls. In fact, dungeons were never prisons in the first place. They were the homes of the dwarves.

Dwarves were pygmy people who once roamed the land when human hierarchy ceased to exist, living almost as long as the elves, if not even longer. They were the most skilful in crafting weaponry from their bare hands. Calloused fingers did wonders with metals, especially mithril. They were considered unrivalled in the arts such as smithing, crafting, metalworking, and masonry, even by the elves who often approached them for various requests. The dwarves were the greatest miners ever to exist, building immense halls under high terrains where they built their cities.

But just like the elves and the so-called immortal gods, the dwarves vanished one day without a trace. Ingot cities keeping numeous crafts created by the dwarves collapsed to ruin underneath the mountains, hence they became currently known as the dungeons humans explore for themselves today. And until today, the dwarves were such ancient beings, they became as forgotten as the gods and the elves. Such tales lost within the winds but will hopefully be remembered one day when all falls to place peacefully in the world of injustice and lies.

"Captain, watch." Charlotte's eyes fluttered open to unveil maya blue irises of nonchalance, arching her brows at Anemone as she lowered her jasmine tea to peer at the young woman striding down the sleek carpet as if it were a catwalk. The Blue Rose captain opened her mouth to say something but paused when she noticed the barely traceable areas she stepped on were left squeaky clean. "You see that? There's no dirt left on the carpet."
