After getting the candy I sit in my truck and held the sack in my hand and smiled.
It was nice of that lady to make this for me. Jenna and I used to go in and Santiago would make these for us every valentine.
I grabbed my notepad and write another note for that apartment door.
I know Jenna is no longer here but this was our tradition. We never had valentines so we said we were each others.
She was my best friend and her life ended way too soon.
My phone rang and knocked me out of my thoughts.
☎️ Hello?
☎️ Hey big brother! Are you coming in today?
☎️ Yeah I had a few stops to make first.
☎️ Did you go pick up candy?
☎️ You know me too well.
☎️ Are you ok? I know how much Jenna meant to you.
☎️ I'm ok just reminiscing but I'm on my way in. Is dad on the warpath?
☎️ Somewhat but not on me.
☎️ Alright see you soon.
I pull out and head to that apartment and stick the note on the door before heading to Kingston Paper.
I straighten up my tie and walk in and take the elevator up to my office and I could hear my dad yelling in the boardroom.
I slipped into my office and shut the door. My dad has built this advertising company from the ground up and he's so passionate about it he gets loud
Beth and I both work here and it's been expected since we were kids. He expects me to take over someday.
My door opens and dad walks in. "Hey, son!"
"Hey, dad! I heard you yelling what's wrong?"
"That idiot almost lost our big account so I'm bringing it to you. I need you to make sure that this deal goes through."
"Alright, I can do that."
He saw that sack on my desk. "Did you stop at Candy rush?"
"Yeah got this in memory of Jenna."
"You love that chocolate don't you?"
"It's the best dad. The granddaughter took over and she made this special for me this morning."
"Do you think that's a good idea to get boxes of candy to hand out here at the office?"
"Oh, I'm sure it is. I can call and ask. How many do you need?"
"Well, we have 500 employees so that many."
"I should probably go there and place the order."
"Can you get me a sample of everything?" He laughed.
"Is that for you or mom?"
"Both." He laughed.
"Alright, dad! I will make a stop after I have a look at this account."
"Thanks, son!"
I watched him walk out the door. I know he can be a tough ass but he's just so passionate about his business.
I looked over the account and shook my head. Damn this is a mess.
I made a couple of calls and scheduled a meeting in a few days with the company.
I put my suit jacket on and grab the sack of candy and head over to Candy rush.
When I walk in that same girl from this morning helped me. "Hi! Welcome back! What can I do for you?"
"Can I speak to the lady I talked to this morning who made this for me?" I held up the sack.
"That's Vaylin hang on let me get her."
When the girl walked back out Vaylin was behind her wiping her hands.
"Hi!" She smiled.
I couldn't help but smile because she had chocolate on her face.
"Thanks for seeing me. I have a big order and I wanted to talk to you about it."
"Ok follow me and we can figure out what you need."
"Oh, I also need one of everything you have on display for my dad."
"Elena one of each please and get it boxed up."
"Sure thing!"
I followed her to a little room with a table and two chairs sitting opposite each other.
"So what can I do for you umm?"
"Theo Kingston."
"Of Kingston paper?"
"Yup that's my dad's company."
"So you are wanting boxes of candy for Valentines?"
"Yeah we have 500 employees and he wants a box for each person."
"That is a tall order but we can have it done before Valentine's Day."
"That would be perfect. That's why my dad wants one of everything he knows I come here and get things." I smile.
When she smiled she was beautiful. Her long blond locks hung around her face.
"Anything else I can get you, Mr. Kingston?"
"Please just call me Theo but I think that's it."
I couldn't help but chuckle.
"What's funny?" She asked.
"You have chocolate on your face."
"Oh! Well, that's nothing new around here. We tend to get chocolate everywhere." She laughed wiping her face.
"So will you call me when all of this is ready?"
"Sure I will do that and then Issac can help you load it all up in your vehicle unless you want it delivered that may take a while."
"Nah I can come to pick it up but thank you for everything, Miss Valentine."
"Oh, it's Vaylin but your welcome. It's people like you that keep us in business."
"Well, it's the delicious chocolate that keeps you in business." I wink.
We get up and I follow her back out front where the other girl has a huge box of chocolate for me.
"How much do I owe?"
Vaylin walked over. "Give him a family discount since he's ordered so much."
"You don't have to do that Vaylin. The company is paying for all of this."
"I appreciate your business, Theo." She smiled walking away and I couldn't help but watch her ass as she walked toward the back.
I paid and headed back out to my truck. Jenna would have loved Vaylin and all of the candy for sure.
I put my ford f-150 in drive and headed home for another night alone but this time I have a different woman in my head.
