So it was this. My father has decided to unveil his sinister plan at this meeting. The whole night for me was sleepless, haunted by how my apathetic peers would jump at the offer of some adventure. At the crack of dawn, I realised that my attempt to sleep was fruitless, and I spent hours wandering my castle, deep in thought.

At last, it was eight, and I waited for my car to roll up to the doors. Stepping up to the building, up the steps, and into the room, I kept tripping over my stumbling feet. Coming inside, I saw the phantom of a smile on my fathers face as I sat down.

"Good morning," he said.

"Hello,"

"I trust you had...a nice night," he looked me up and down.

I shook my head. "Your insane plans riled me up."

He smiled ever so slightly, his dark dark eyes boring into the windows of my soul. "Everything riles you up, my son." he flicked his wrist. "don't worry. The idea patent is mine. You don't even get an acknowledgement."

I was supposed to be offended. "It better not be. You weren't accused of a...no, two world wars."

"Ah, I didn't think of making one."

"Haha."

"Look, there comes your friend. Now if you excuse me, I will be going to the water closet." He abruptly stood up and left. In his place stood Russian Empire, no worse for the wear. My lip twitched.

"Mind if I?" He oozed.

"As a matter of fact, I do mind." I tried to remain neutral. It was abysmally failing.

He took it anyway. "Oh German Empire, the rumours, the rumours. I heard much about  you over the week."

I took the opportunity to flash him a wicked smile in return. "Oh, well I did too."

Suspicion cloud his azure eyes. "No?"

"I wouldn't expect you to be smart enough to understand," I went on. "We grew up very different. I was studying war, while you pranced around like a butterfly on a stage."

He seemed to take the bait. "At least my knees aren't buckling, and I'm not wheezing, like someone I know."

I was about to bite back when Prussia rushed Russian Empire off his spot and America came in with a coffee pitcher. I sorely wanted to nab it out of his hands and throw it at Russian Empire. But America started his spiel early.

"Good morning everyone!" he announced. "I brought some iced coffee and cups, if anyone would like to have some, go ahead." nobody touched the carafe. After an awkward moment, he went on. "So, the first order of business, I will start with reloc-."

Father stood up so fast, that I didn't have time to blink. He went over to the coffee and knocked it over so that the black liquid spilt all over the desk in a slow advance. All noise ceased. I partly thought he might just yell 'Revolution!' and jump on the table, but he handled the situation befitting an emperor. Which, he was.

America gaped. "Mister Brandenburg Prussia! What....what is this?!"

"It is an action," my father replied evenly. "Now comes the eulogy." He stepped up on the table and cleared his throat. Russian Empire started raptly at him. "Gentlemen, ladies, Empires and conquerors. I speak as a fellow, not a shameful republic. I speak for our slipping power, for our missing minds, and for our sapping strength. Who here wants to be here?"

"No one!" Austria Hungary hissed out when nobody spoke.

"That's right. No one. And yet, our shameful sons and daughters, and grandchildren lock us up, hoping to squish our fiery determination into a modern machine. Who wants to be a paper cutout fashioned by their own creations?"
