Our steps ekkoes. Sandra, Barbara and I are walking towards the US base. There's people everywhere. Everyone is going to the ceremony at the army base. I walk with Danny by my side in his army uniform. He has never looked better, but I know it's not the right time to tell him that. Both Sandra and Barbara are walking alone with no man. And then there's Gooz and Red... Who both lost their woman in the Pearl Harbor attack just like Barbara who lost Billy. I can't Imagine what I would have done if I had lost Danny either at Pearl Harbor or to the Doolittle mission.
I haven't worn this uniform for a long time, we only wear our army uniforms when doing something official like this ceremony today. Usually I wear dresses or the lieutenant nurse uniform so it's strange to wear hat and jacket.
We arrive at the base and follow the enormous amount of people until we see our superiors and go to our group. I give Danny a small kiss before we parten our ways and he goes with the other men to Doolittle.
