mia stuffed her hand in her pocket, eventually pulling out a a handful of keys. she found a little silver key and stuck it into its key hole, unlocking the front door, then entering and flicked a switch, which lit up the whole record store.

mia had inherited 'mountain records' from her father, and she has been happy with a job like this ever since.

mia is the only one who works here, and she likes it that way.

she can choose the music that flows from the record player and into the speakers, she can do whatever she wants to the store, she doesn't have to worry about employees or anything.

mia loves this job, and she doesn't want to do anything else, because quite frankly, nothing else could be as good as this.

mia walked through the store, running her fingers along the records, feeling the cover of each album.

mia put her bag down at the counter as she did any other day, then went straight to the back room where she found a much beloved album, before she went back to the counter, where the record player sat, and she began spinning the record.

"i am all that i need
and i'll be till i'm through."

fleet foxes album crack-up was played through the store as mia sat in her seat at the counter, picking up a magazine from under the counter, flicking through it randomly, patiently waiting for a friendly local customer to walk through the store, in hopes of a nice morning chat, though mia knew no one goes to the record store this early in the morning.

but surprisingly, the bell chimed, signalling someone had opened the door.

as mia looked up from her magazine, she didn't recognise the face that walked through the door.

his long hair fell just below his shoulders, he wore a long blue type of flannel shirt, along with some shorts and canvas shoes.

the man looked over to mia and his face held a unreadable expression as he looked at her features, but after a few seconds, he smiled softly at her, and then looked away ahead of him.

mia furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, yet shook it off and continued reading her magazine.

mia felt nervous to start a conversation with the man, being used to the locals coming in, knowing what to talk to them about.

mia then spoke up suddenly, startling the young man, which mia assumes is around her age.

"you new here?" mia asked, and the man perked his head up, looking over to mia, but he simply just smiled before looking back down to the stack of records he was flicking through.

"yeah, how could you tell?" the young man asked.

"i know everyone who walks through that door, but you're not familiar to me at all and we don't get new customers often, unless, you're a tourist?" mia asked.

"nah, I'm not a tourist." the man said, his eyes still fixated on the records below him, "i just moved here." he then stated.

"well, i look forward to seeing you here more often." mia said, smiling over to him, and he looked up to her, also smiling.

the young man pulled out a record from the stack, flipping it around to see the back, before walking up to the counter where mia sat.

"ooh, jimi hendrix, are you experienced." mia stated as she looked at the cover when the man handed her the record, her fingers brushing his hand, sending shivers through his body.

"good choice." mia added as she scanned the barcode on the plastic sleeve on the record.

"somehow, my brother managed to leave that record behind at our parents house back in frankenmuth." the man explained, "my other brother loves jimi hendrix, claims it's a 'necessity', so i had to buy another copy for our new house, just to keep him happy." he then added.

mia thought back to how josh said he was from frankenmuth, and how he had mentioned he had two brothers.

perhaps this is one of his brothers? mia thought to herself, but she quickly brushed it off, simply taking it as a coincidence.

"jimi hendrix is a god, tell your brother that he has good taste for me." mia said as the man handed her the money, already knowing the cost of the record.

mia printed out the receipt and placed it on the record, handing the two back to the man.

"well what's your name?" he asked mia as he took the record back into his hands, "he's gonna wonder who it is saying he has good taste." he then added.

"tell him it's a person who owns mountain records." mia said, "i'll have be a little mysterious, don't i?" mia asked, and the man simply chuckled.

"i guess so." he said.

"but it's nice to meet you, mysterious person record store owner. i'm sam, but basically everyone calls me sammy." the man now introduced as 'sam' said.

"nice to meet you sammy, shall i see you in the store often?" mia asked, looking into his soft eyes, "yeah, someone's gotta buy the records in my household." sam said, smiling, and mia chuckled slightly.

"hope you don't burn through all your money, these things can be expensive." mia stated.

mia had always tried to keep her records a decent price for her customers, but it all depends on popularity, when the album came out, the artist, and other factors.

"oh, i'll be fine." sam said, brushing it off.

"you must have a good job then." mia said, and sam chuckled.

"yeah, it's alright i guess." sam said, though his and mia's attention was quickly brought to the door as it chimed.

"hey dave!" mia said happily, getting up out of her seat and walking to an old man, a local more specifically.

"oh, hi darlin." the old man said sweetly as mia brought him into a warm hug.

"how's julia?" mia asked, folding her arms across her chest.

"she's good, she's good." the old man said, "she's made you some cookies, come swing by mine to get them after you close." he then added.

mia's face lit up, "oh i can't wait till my shift is over." mia said happily, but she then turned to sam who was smiling warmly over to the two.

"oh, i almost forgot." mia said, looking back over to the old man, "dave, this is sam, he's just moved here from frankenmuth in michigan." mia introduced, showing dave to sam who was walking over to the two.

"ah, you're that greta van fleet boy." the old man said, pointing to him as he spoke, "you make some good music, son." he then stated.

"thank you, sir." sam said.

the old man then looked to his side and pulled out the record that sat on the front. there was a forest, with hooded figures gathered around a campfire. the album was labeled in big bold letters, 'greta van fleet, from the fires'

"you boys remind me of led zeppelin, it's good to experience something like that again." the old man said happily, and he looked to mia, "i'd like to get this one today." he stated simply, before slowly walking to the counter.

mia had listened to greta van fleet before, but never knew the names of the people in the band.

"well, i think it's a pretty darn good job." mia said, referring back to their earlier conversation, and sam laughed lightly.

"it has it's ups and downs." sam stated.

"well, next time you have a show near, feel free to give your good friend here, a ticket or two." mia said as she slowly walked backwards, back up to the counter where dave stood, occupying himself with the key rings that hung from a rack.

"i'll keep it in mind." sam said, chuckling, before mia turned around fully, walking back up the counter, beginning to scan dave's record.

sam watched mia for a few seconds before he smiled to himself, then eventually leaving the store on a high.
