Medicine & Poison (part 5) - This is Building 5

Qi: "Am I dead?"

He looked up to see Liang and Upa both glaring down at him, both clearly not happy.

Qi: "So, uh... it's kinda been a while, hasn't it guys?"

Upa: "You've been here the whole time, right? So, no, it hasn't been very long at all."

Qi: "Yeah, uh- sorry."

Liang: "Idiot. Who do you think you are? Pulling a stunt like that."

Qi: "Right, well... I don't know, seemed worth it. Uhm- I said I'm sorry, right?"

Upa: "If sorry were enough, we wouldn't need prisons."

Qi: "Stop looking at me like I pooped on your rug! It's like that thing that people say. To deceive your enemies you must first, uh- something, heh... I'm sorry I didn't warn you. But I did bring the keys to your cell and handcuffs."

Upa: "We don't need those now."

Liang: "It's too late. We were rescued by someone who really cared."

Qi: "I should get points for trying! Anyway, listen. I'm just glad that you kids are okay."

Upa: "There's no reason to pretend to be a good guy here. You aren't fooling us."

Qi: "I really am though!"

Upa: "You say you're sorry you didn't warn us. Well, why'd you decide not to?"

Qi: "No offence, but you're both the type to act before you think sometimes. If I had told you what was going down, you probably would have gone out and tried to fight it. And it was Enki Gokuu behind this. If you faced him directly, you might've been killed. I figured you'd be safest locked away at first. You've gotta get a sense of self preservation. If you two are ever going to start over, then that's the first step."

Liang: "Qi..."

Qi: "Unlike me, you're both still yo- oof!"

Upa gut punched him.

Upa: "Stop acting like everything's okay now! You're the one who acts without thinking! Again and again! This is why you're trash, Qi. Because every time you try to do something, you leave us out of it."

Qi: "Upa..."

Upa: "Don't lecture me about self-preservation. You don't have that right. You never ask us what we want. You only think about yourself."

Nico sat up.

Nico: "Uh- Jinx? Where are you?"

He saw me lying motionless on the ground.

Nico: "Oh no!"

He crawled over to me and rolled me onto my back. I opened my eyes but recoiled when I saw him over me. He looked at me, puzzled.

Jinx: "Is- is that you, Nico?"

Nico: "Yeah, of course."

His normal sweet smile reassured me. So I sat up and hugged him.

Jinx: "I'm so glad..."

Nico: "Are you alright?"

Jinx: "Yeah... it just still hurts."

I looked to see my arms and legs where he held me were badly bruised. Not to mention the multiple scratches all over my body. Tears filled my eyes, but I hastily wiped them away. I didn't want Nico to worry.
