You never think of the things you should be grateful for, until it's striped away from you.
I look at the beautiful scenery ahead of me; the baby blue sky, the fluffy white clouds, the long green grass, and a big tree off in the distance, and the sun shining in the sky.
I relax in my wheelchair, as I take in the scene. I feel the wind softly breeze through my hair.
I look down at my legs; the legs that will never make me walk again. I feel tears appear in my eyes but I quickly blink them away. I'm not going to cry, this is the way I am now.
I feel someone lightly touch my shoulder, and I turn around to see a pair of beautiful blue eyes gazing down at me.
"You okay?" Ethan asks.
I sigh, "I'm fine."
"I know when you're lying Gracie-poo."
"Gracie-poo?" I ask and laugh.
"What? It's an amazing nickname, no one would have thought of it."
"Ya right! Everyone would think of that. That's like saying Ethie-poo."
Ethan wrinkles his face adorably. "That sounds terrible!"
"Fine let me think of a better one....hmmm."
"Easter bunny?" Ethan asks.
"No, something more cute sounding. How about Ethanator?" I ask excitedly.
"Ethanator? That doesn't sound cute."
"Hey, I'm proud of that one! Fine, what about E man?"
"Mmmm, I think I like Ethanator," Ethan says.
I smile and then look at the sun starting to set. After a while of silence I turn my head to see Ethan smirking down at me.
"What? You're giving me that smirk which says 'I'm about to do something silly.'"
"You know me too well," says Ethan as he quickly picks me up from my wheelchair, and starts to run towards the tree.
I scream in delight as I grab on tightly on Ethan's shirt. I feel Ethan's chest vibrate from laughing. The wind whips through my hair. Ethan stops running and sits me down beside the tree. Ethan then lies down on the grass, and I do the same.
We both lie right beside each other, our shoulders and arms touching.
"That looks like a train," Ethan says pointing at the cloud up above.
"To me it looks like a foot."
"A foot? No, it looks like a train. There's the front of it and the-"
I cut Ethan off, "the toes!"
Ethan starts to laugh. "Whatever you say. Hey, that one looks like a chicken."
"Noooo! It looks like a monkey riding a pig on a bicycle!"
We both start to laugh hysterically. "Only you Grace, only you."
We stay lying in the grass wrapped in each others arms, laughing and talking until it was dark.

•5 years later•I fidget nervously waiting for the doctor to come back in the room for the news. I've been waiting for so damn long.
Me and Ethan did get married two years ago, it was the best day of my life. All the supernaturals finally got together and we are all like a family now. The humans aren't afraid of us now and us supernaturals don't hurt them anymore.
I keep fidgeting and play with my hands. Ethan reaches out and holds my hand reassuringly. "I'm here for you."
I smile a bit and squeeze Ethan's hand. I close my eyes for a bit and take in a deep breath. I open my eyes when I start to hear footsteps. I sit up in my wheelchair as the door opens. The doctor walks in and sits on his stool.
"So?" I ask impatiently.
"I'm sorry to say to you both, but Grace, you are not able to have children."
I start to breath quickly and I bend down and put my face on my hands, as I start to cry. My body shakes from sobbing, and Ethan wraps his arms around me.
"I'm sorry again," says the doctor and leaves the room.
I look up at Ethan and he has a few tears coming out too. I wrap my arms around his neck and I bury my face in his shoulder.
More and more tears come out as Ethan holds me tight against him.
~~~
I wheel myself down the hallway of the castle. A few vampires and werewolves in the house came to me and said sorry, about what happened. But most of them just stare at me sadly.
Yes, I did cry. Yes, I did stay in my room for a few days, but I need to move on with life. I believe everything happens for a reason, and the best thing you can do is stay happy and kind.
I wheel into the kitchen and see Ethan standing at the counter. He turns around and smiles at me. "Good morning cupcake face."
I laugh. "New nickname everyday?"
"Yes, I'm still working on it."
Ethan hands me a plate and on top is a pile of pancakes, dribbled with syrup. I lick my lips excitedly.
"Those look scrumptious!" I say.
"You need something to eat, you haven't eaten in a while."
Then I remember why I was sad, and that I haven't eaten in a while. My smile falls. I look down and play with my hands.
"Ya..." I mumble.
Ethan walks over to me and kneels down. "Maybe we can adopt a child?"
I look up at Ethan. "But it would have been nice to have our own."
"I know, but when we adopt it will feel like our own."
I nod. "Okay, I guess."
"We don't have to, it's your choice. But I just want to tell you something."
"Yes?" I ask.
"I don't care what happens, I will always love you. You lost your legs and I still love you, you can't have kids, I still love you. Nothing will stop me from loving you so much. I will always see you as an angel. And that's what you are to me. You're my light and sunshine, you're what makes me smile and laugh everyday. I love you Grace, and nothing will change my mind about that."
"Ever?" I ask.
"Never, never, ever!"
