~•Chapter 3: Ethan•~

I got myself ready, and looked in the mirror. My usual bright green eyes look dull, because of all the torture and I haven't eaten for a while. I left my wavy dark redish-brown hair down and combed out the knots. I wash my face, and I feel so much better.

I go back in my room and flop onto the bed.

"Oh my gosh!" I say as I lie down.

I move around on the bed. It's so cozy and comfortable! This is the best bed I have ever been in.

"Having fun?"

I quickly get up and I see Ethan standing at the door.

"Ya, it's really cozy."

He laughs.

"Well it's dinner time. Come, we eat together."

I get up and I follow Ethan to the dinning room.

"So, you're whole pack eats together?"

"Oh no. There would be too many vampires then. There are some of the pack members that live here, the important ones. The rest live on their own, when we need them we call them."

We walk down the stairs and we turn a corner. We finally get to the dinning room. The table looks like it goes on forever. There are vampires already sitting down. Me and Ethan walk in and we sit beside each other.

"Nice of you to join us Grace," says Sir William.

Five maids walk in with dishes in their hands. They walk to the table and start to give each vampire food. A maid comes to me and puts a dish down. She lifts the top lid, and the smell of delicious food makes my stomach grumble.

I grab my fork and I dig right in. I can't help myself, I haven't eaten in a day and a half. I feel Ethan's gaze on me and I hear him giggle quietly.

What? I can't stop eating.

A maid comes walking in and whispers something in Sir Williams ear. He nods and gets up saying he has something to do. He leaves the room without another word.

"You must be the famous Grace Shield."

I look up from my plate and stare at the guy vampire in front of me.

"What do you mean famous?"

"Well, everyone has been talking about you. If you ask me, it's really annoying," says a girl while twirling her hair.

"She eats like a pig, but she smells wonderful," says the guy in front of me hungrily.

"Dimitri, stop being such a pervert."

I look at Ethan. Is he defending me?

"She's good looking too. I think I'll keep her myself."

Ethan slams his hand on the table really hard, that the whole table looked like it is gonna break.

"While you shut your thirsty trap? She's not interested in you!"

Ethan's eyes start to turn a bit red. He glares at Dimitri with such hatred.

"Oooooh! Does someone have a crush on Grace?"

Ethan stares at me, then back at Dimitri.

"Shut up! I do not!"

"Yes you do!"

"No!"

"Yes!"

"No!"

"Yes!"

"I said no and it's final!" screams Ethan.

His eyes fully turn bright red. His hands are balled up into fists. He gets up and so does Dimitri. Ethan jumps over the table with such speed, that all I see is a blur.

Ethan lunges forward and attacks Dimitri with his super strength. They start to punch and kick. I get up from my spot, completely shocked. All I can see is a blur, they are to fast for me.

The dinning room door flys open and Sir William comes in.

"STOP THIS INSTANT!"

Ethan and Dimitri stop fighting. Dimitri is crumpled on the wall, completely beaten up. While Ethan only has a few scratches and bruises on his face.

"What the hell is going on?"

Ethan opens his mouth to talk, but is interrupted by his dad.

"No! Don't answer me! Go to your room now!"

He points towards the door. Ethan hesitates, looks at Dimitri, then walks out the dinning room. How did Ethan just beat Dimitri up like it was nothing, while he's perfectly fine.

I feel fear rise up in my body. Ethan must be really strong and fast.

"Take Grace to her room."

Someone comes beside me and grabs my arm and walks me to my room. I can't even think properly. I get to my room and I walk in, and hear the lock click in place.

I slowly walk towards my bed, and lie down. I'm so sleepy, and the bed is so cozy, that I fell right to sleep.

I slowly open my eyes, and look at the clock. It's 4:23am. I groan and turn to lie down on my stomach. I see someone in the corner of the room and I jump up in a sitting position.

"Hey Grace. Sorry I didn't mean to scare you."

The figure walks closer, and I realize it's Ethan. He walks towards me and sits down on the bed.

"I'm sorry about what happened at dinner time. I didn't mean for my anger to take over me like that."

"H-h-how did you-"

"I was just born with more strength and more speed. Also my dad did experiments on me when I was younger."

"That must have been horrifying."

Ethan looks at me with his baby blue eyes. His straight brown hair always seems to be moved perfectly to the side in the front. It looks natural, it doesn't look like he uses a gel.

"He erased my memory so I don't remember anything. I find it better off like that."

"So you don't have any nightmares?"

Ethan laughs quietly.

"Vampires don't sleep. We stay awake all the time."

I nod my head, like I already knew that. That's weird but fascinating at the same time.

"I actually have the power to erase memories."

"You do?"

"Yes, I'm unique like that. I'm a weird vampire with a weird power."

I yawn, I'm tired but I want to talk more.

"I'll let you go to sleep. I just want to tell you to play along with what my dad says. Pretend you like being here and then he'll trust you. Then he won't keep a lock on your door."

"Okay thanks. Bye Ethan."

"Bye Grace."

He walks away quietly. If I didn't know he is a vampire, I would have thought he is a ghost.

He opens the door and slowly closes it. I lie back down to go back to sleep, but I can't. I toss and turn, but I'm still wide awake. I hate when your tired back you can't fall asleep.

I start to think about Ethan and his power. Then I think about what he said to me. Maybe I will pretend, then I won't have a lock on my door and I'll escape. But, I have no family left. What will I do? I guess I'll stay on the run forever, it's better than staying here.

My eyes slowly start to close.
