Chapter 17 ~•The Unthinkable•~

I slowly open my eyes, wishing I didn't wake up from that dream. I finally open my eyes and I see a white ceiling.

I suddenly feel something near, something that's starting to fill up my broken heart.

I turn my head but my neck starts to throb. I touch my neck and I feel stitches. I wince in pain and turn my head to the right.

I see a boy standing not far away. I can't see him properly, but I feel like I know him. He walks forward slowly, and he starts to come in view.

He has light brown hair which is curled up a bit at the bottom. He also has light blue eyes, and pinkish lips to go with it. He has his hands in his pockets.

He takes graceful and gentle steps towards me.

"Ethan?"

"Hello Grace, I missed you."

•Now•

"Ethan? Is that really you?" I ask in astonishment.

"Yes Grace, I have finally recovered!"

He walks towards me and I go into a sitting position, even though my neck is throbbing. (Remember Sir William cut my neck.)

Ethan walks up to the bed and kneels down beside me. He tucks a piece of my hair behind my ear. My skin tingles from his touch. I lean into his touch, not wanting him to go.

"I love you so much Grace," he whispers.

"I love you too," I say back.

He looks at my lips, and I look at his pink lips. He starts to lean in and so do I. Our nose touch and I feel his breath on my face. We lean in a bit more and our lips just touch.....

I wake up to a loud bang. I quickly open my eyes and look to my right. I see a nurse looking at me.

"Sorry darling, I dropped something. You feeling okay?"

Was that all just a dream? This is inception all over again, a dream inside a dream!

"Grace?" Asks the nurse.

I feel tears well up in my eyes. "No!"

"What's wro-"

I cut her off. "Go away!"

"But I need to know w-"

"GO AWAY!" I scream at the nurse.

She stares at me shocked, then slowly walks out the room. I look up at the ceiling and I burst out crying. I put my hands on my face and I try to muffle the sound of me crying.

Ethan...I need you, I need you desperately. Why did you have to save my life? You can't die on me. The thought of him dying is unbearable.

Wait, this is the room he was in when he was unconscious. I turn my head slowly, wincing in pain. The bed next to me is neatly done. That's the exact bed he was in. Why isn't he there anymore?

I get up slowly, placing my feet on the cold tile floor. I stand up and I start to feel dizzy. I place my hand on the wall and I start to walk towards the door. I open it and I walk down the hall, towards Sir Williams office. I get to his office door which is closed. I knock really loud and rapidly.

"Mmmmhhm."

I stand impatiently and knock louder on the door.

"What?!" I hear Sir William say in annoyance.

"It's Grace!"

I hear him jump up and run towards the door. He swings the door open and he has a shocked expression on his face.

"Grace?"

"Yes me! What happened to Ethan?!" I yell.

His face relaxes and he grimaces. "Ah! Ethan? Well how do I put this? Ummm......HE'S DEAD!" Screams Sir William in my face. The sad part is that he looks happy!

"W-what?"

"He's dead! He was unconscious for too long so I killed him."

Everything seems to go black slowly. I quickly place my hand on the wall. The floor starts to spin underneath me.

"Graces little lover dead? Oh no!" He says tauntingly.

Rage fills up inside me. "HOW DARE YOU KILL ETHAN! HE'S YOUR FLESH AND BLOOD, HE'S YOUR SON!!" I throw punches and kick Sir William. I grab his neck and I start to chock him.

Sir Williams eyes start to turn red. He grabs me really tightly and throws me down the hall. My body smacks the ground with a cracking sound. I slide on the floor and I bang my head really hard on the wall.

Everything goes black.

I open my eyes and I'm lying down in long grass. I look straight ahead and I see the baby blue sky, and white fluffy clouds floating by.

I slowly stand up and I look around. I'm in a huge field of grass. There are flowers blooming everywhere, and the sun in beaming down on me.

I look down at myself and I'm wearing a nice, white sundress. I look up to see a figure standing not far back. He gracefully walks towards me.

"Ethan?"

I run towards him and he stretches his arms out. I jump into his arms and he swings me around. He puts me down and stares at me. His eyes are like the beautiful blue ocean, his smile like the warm sun, and his lips so fine and pink.

"Grace, I want to spend the rest of my life with you," he says with his soothing voice.

"Ethan, I want to be in your arms for the rest of my life."

He leans in but then he opens his eyes wide. His mouth opens really big and he freezes.

"Ethan?"

Blood starts to pour out of his mouth. I take a step back to see what's going on. Behind Ethan I see Sir William standing and holding my sword, which is now in Ethan. Sir William takes the sword out and Ethan drops to the floor.

"Ethan?!"

I run over to his now bloody body. Sir William starts to laugh menacingly. I look at Ethan, and tears start to stream down my face. The tears drop and go onto Ethan's face. He stares at me, mouth still open. I can see his chest still rise but really slowly.

"Ethan stay with me! You can't leave me!"

"G-Grace........I-I-I-"

He stops breathing and his face drops to the side.

"NOOOOOOO!"

I wake up from that terrible dream.

"How's your back?" Asks a nurse beside my bed.

"Fine! Now leave me alone!"

She looks at me sadly, like she knows what I'm going through. She leaves my bedroom and I cry for the millionth time.

Is Ethan really dead? Would his own dad really do that? Knowing him he would, but that's just cruel! I never thought that Ethan would be dead! My love, my life is stripped away from me. What will I do without Ethan? I can't think of Ethan being dead.

It's the unthinkable.
