New People and Keeping the Truth (chapter 12)

I slowly placed him onto the ground. Ant and Velvet ran over. "Is he ok!?" Ant asked. "I think so. I think he just passed out." I said. I checked his plause. "Yeah he just passed out." I repeated. I placed Zak's head on my lap. "Hey Ant, can you go get a water bottle?" I asked. "Yeah." Ant said. Ant then left to get a water bottle.

We sat there for a few minutes before Ant came back. He handed me the water bottle. I placed the bottle beside me. It was for Zak when he woke up.

"Is he gonna be alright?" Velvet asked. I nodded. "Hopefully he isn't passed out for hours like last time." I said. "I hope not." Velvet said.

We decided to talk for a little before I felt something move in my arms. "Darryl...?" I looked down. "Zak! You're awake! Here, drink some water." I said. I picked up the water. Zak then sat up and grabbed the water from me. He opened the water and drank half of it before putting it on the ground. "You ok?" I asked Zak. He nodded. "What happened?" Ant asked. "I don't know." Zak said. "How is your head?" I asked Zak. "Better." He said. "Does it still hurt?" Velvet asked. "Yeah a little." Zak said. "It doesn't hurt as much as it did a while ago. So that's good." He added. "That's awesome!" I said.

"What time is it?" Zak asked. "Uhm." I said. I pulled out my phone. I checked the time. "It's 4pm." I said. "So an hour before Football practice." Ant said. "Yeah, also an hour until cheer practice." Velvet said. "Oh! you have cheer at the same time we have football?" I asked. "Yeah but they get off 30 minutes before we do. They also have cheer the same day we have football." Ant said. "Yep! We also cheer for you guys every game." Velvet said. "Oh cool!" I said. "Wait where do you go Zak?" I asked Zak. "Oh! I usually hang out at home or watch Velvet cheer." He said. "Ohh ok." I said. "Zak, I think you should sit down." I added. "Yeah, good idea." Zak said. He then walked towards the bleachers. He sat down. "I'll be back, I'm going to talk to Zak for a little bit." I said. I then walked towards Zak.

"Hey Zak." I said. I sat down beside him. "Hey." Zak said. "Why have you been pasting out?" I asked him. "I have no idea." He replied. "Well maybe you're stressed? Or not enough water, food, or sleep?" I said. "Maybe it's water. I haven't been drinking a good amount of water recently. So maybe that's it." Zak said. "I hope that's it and nothing worse." I said. He nodded. "Here I'll go get you some more water." I said. "Ok thank you." Zak said.

I got up and walked to where my couch keeps all the drinks. I grabbed a bottle of water for Zak. I then walked back towards Zak. I sat down beside him once more and handed him the water. He took the water and took a sip here and there.

Me and Zak sat there talking for what felt like a lifetime. I then heard someone call my name. I looked at the field. Ant was standing alone. "Where is Velvet?" I called to Ant. "He left for Cheer!" He shouted back. Wait what? Was it almost 5 already!? I quickly grabbed my phone and checked the time. It was 4:54. "Oh shoot it 4:54. I'm sorry I have to go." Zak said. "Oh alright. Have a nice day." I said. I brushed my fingers through his hair. He seems to enjoy it. His face always turns a little pinker. I took my hand away from his hair. "I'll see you later." He said. "ALright. Talk to you later!" I shouted as he sprinted away.

(Zak's Pov)

Shit! Cheer starts in 6 minutes. I can't be late again!

I rushed to my house and quickly grabbed my bag and rushed to the school. I quickly rushed into the gym. Cara and Becca were the only ones there. "Oh Zak! You're just in time! Everyone is in the changing room so go ahead and change." Cara said. I nodded and tried to catch my breath. I then walked to the locker room. I opened the door and saw A bunch of people in there. I saw Velvet talking to what I remember as their names were Karl and Geroge. I walked over to them.

They were all in their cheer uniforms. "Hey guys." I said to them. "Oh hey Zak! Have you met George and Karl?" Velvet asked me. "No, I don't think so." I replied. "Oh! Well this is George." Velvet said. He pointed to a boy with a green hoodie and clout goggles. "Hello." George said. "Hey." I said to George. "And this is Karl." Velvet said. He pointed to the guy beside George. Karl had this hoodie with a bunch of colors. The main color was purple. It had a yellow and a blue sleeve. "Hi." Karl said. "Hi." I replied. We chatted for a few minutes. "Oh shoot! I forgot. I have to change, I'll be right back!" I said. I ran to the nearest stall and got changed. I put my clothes into the bag and put it in a locker. I then returned to Karl,George and Velvet. "Ok I'm back." I said. "Ooooo! Looking good Zak." Velvet said to me. "Thanks." I replied. "I bet Darryl would love this." Velvet said. "Oh my god! Shut up!" I said. "Who's Darryl?" Karl asked. "It's his boyfriend." Velvet said. "No! He is NoT!" I said. "Nice voice crack." Velvet teased. "Oh my god. Velvet." I said. "What?" He asked. "Nevermind." I said. "Wait, the guy on pink parrots?" George asked. "Yeah." Velvet asked "Are you guys dating?" Karl asked. "No, we aren't dating. We are just friends." I said. "This idiot just likes to tease me and him." I added."He has a crush on him though." Velvet said. "I do not!" I yelled. "So if me and Ant break up I could date Darryl?" Velvet asked. "What no!" I screeched. "Aha! You do like him!" Velvet said. "Whatever." I mumbled. "Oh hey also if you ever meet Darryl don't say anything about Zak being a cheerleader. He wants to surprise Darryl at his first game." Velvet said. "Ok got it." Karl said. "Alright! I understand." George said. "Ok! Everyone! Let's get practicing!" Cara said. Everyone rushed out the door. I was the last one to come out of the locker room.
