Nova:
Before I even put my keys down I get a call from Max.
"Nova she won't stop crying" he complains as soon as I pick up and I go through the list of things that could be the cause
"And.." he lowers his voice, moving closer to the phone
"She's starting to smell" I can hear the disgust in his voice from through the phone.
"She probably needs a nappy change" I remind him that that's a thing.
"Not it!" I hear the three of them say before breaking out into a loud argue
"HEY!" I yell through the phone to get their attention
"One of you man up, this is a tiny human not some toy" I try to knock some sense into them. I really shouldn't have left her with them
"Screw this I'm coming back" I say annoyed
"Thank fuck" Max sighs over the phone
"Thank you, love you, see you soon" Kai yells clearly wanting to get out of changing her nappy
"Can you.." Max takes over the phone again
"Can you maybe stay the night please?" He asks gently, the sound of crying in the distance
"I know you said you couldn't but we really need you" he says and after seeing them earlier I honestly agree.
"Ok, ok. Let me just grab some stuff" I tell him as I walk into my room to pack my bag.
"Thank you! You're the best" he says gratefully
"No problem, I'll be there soon" I say, hanging up.
Not really how I planned my afternoon going, but at least I get to hang out with a cute baby and Max. It's a win win I guess.
After packing a set of clothes and toiletries I began the car ride back to their house for the second time today.
As I reached their door it was oddly quiet... too quiet.
I let myself in again after no one answered when I knocked. What is it with these boys and leaving their door unlocked? Well I guess if you don't know the gate password then you can't get in but still. They have a child now, it's not safe.
As I enter I hear a soft sound of laughter, ok that's a good sign.
I follow the sound which leads to the upstairs bathroom, when I open the door Kai is holding Ava over the toilet while she giggles.
"What're you doing?" I ask him
"We just washed her and changed her, no way am I risking her pooping her pants again" he says continuing to hold a naked Ava over the toilet
"She's a baby.. she's meant to shit in her pants.. well in her nappy" I tell him
"That's just disgusting" he says shaking his head
"I tried to tell him," Max says, coming up behind me.
"Give her here" I say reaching for Ava
She giggles making me smile at how cute she is
"c'mon let's get you dressed" I tickle her stomach making her laugh
Both the boys follow as I take Ava to the spare room with all her stuff.
"Where's Luke?" I ask
"Work" Max replies simply
"Alrighty, let's sort you out" I lay Ava down on the bed, grabbing a nappy and cute tan onesie
